(51,676 posts)The strong winds off the ocean are the worst in 3 years, at least. Wind, cold and rain is creating havoc and will continue over the next 3-4 days. I hope people in this storm's path as it continues across the rest of the US are aware of this strong storm system.
It was so cold and windy in my apt in San Diego last night that my curtains were moving from the blowing of the cold air into my home. I had to hang three blankets over the window since builders in CA in the 70s apparently didn't think insulation and decent windows would be necessary. Cheap buildings that sold fast was their only goal. Thank goodness the trees outside my window were cut only 10 days ago or I would be living in a tent on the street right now. It is a mess out there with severe wind chill temps and indoors I can't afford to turn on the electric heat which is in the CEILING of all places. My upstairs neighbor is warm and toasty on my dime so I wear gloves, 2 pairs of socks, a scarf and a pair of long-johns indoors since this winter has been very cold here.

(51,676 posts)in the lower elevations of San Diego County. It has been so extremely windy that my mom's dog was hiding in a closet. Everything is blowing away in her yard. Trees are falling all over the county. Brrrrrrrr!
