https://www.yahoo.com/news/donald-trump-rolled-back-rail-020631337.htmlDonald Trump visited East Palestine, Ohio, on Wednesday, following a disastrous train derailment.
The 2024 Republican candidate donated pallets of Trump-branded water to residents.
Trump's visit raised questions about his administration's rollback of rail safety regulations.

(18,874 posts)That bottled water was over 10 years old. He was just getting rid of old stock.

(50,608 posts)If you are dumb enough to stay at a Trump hotel, you can buy Trump Spring Water there. They make it all the time, and Trump Spring Water is what he donated. Trump Ice, the brand he was trying to sell to the general public, was not donated.
Now, heres what I dont get: does he think he deserves a medal for donating a quarter-trailer full of water to East Palestine? He gave sixteen skids of water to the relief effort. When I worked Hurricane Andrew relief we were getting FULL trailers of water - 52 skids per trailer. Sixteen skids is nothing after a disaster.

(2,297 posts)The Orange Menace just flat-out lied about FEMA and President Biden at his campaign rally in Palestine.
I mean, it was full-on, flat-out, bold-face lying.
And all the state jerk offs standing around him smiling at the torrent of lies pouring from him. Dis-gusting.

(4,298 posts)Congress. Everyone hates the Federal gov't until it is needed when the states fail and their elected officials are more beholden to the lobbyists who control what is regulated and what is not. MONEY and personal greed with a lot of corruption is the at the seat of most environmental issues today. People want to make big bucks investing in the very corporations that are endangering their lives to make big profits. PEOPLE, THERE IS NO FREE RIDE. It's about the choices we ARE LED to make. Lull yourselves to sleep by the lies you are being told from the people you LIKE and refuse to learn about the facts from the people you DON'T LIKE and pay the consequences.
People like battered women must make a choice. Stay with the abuser or get out of the relationship.

(12,604 posts)If she keeps blabbering, the foreman of the special grand jury is going to do it for him.
The cynical part of me wonders if her cheerful "I volunteered to lead" and "Everyone was so nice" is meant to poison the jury pool. It's not her fault entirely; what a stupid state Georgia is to not prevent its grand jurors from talking about the case before the conviction -- if ever.
How much is she going to be paid for her book?

(1,967 posts)Near as I can tell she hasnt jeopardized anything.
She hasnt named anyone or given up info on specific conversations that they had. So I am wondering what she has done wrong.

(12,604 posts)I've noticed she's quite careful in choosing her words. I hope she continues to do that.
As far as doing something wrong goes, I guess it depends on your perspective. If you're a prosecutor you want to have control over everything that applies to your case, and she's a wild card. For a defense attorney, you're looking for anything that can introduce reasonable doubt into just one juror's mind, or anything that can be used as a basis for an appeal. By this measure she's doing nothing wrong by her frequent and elaborate interviews. We can assume his attorneys are already studying her interviews to find anything to support either of the goals. We already know TFG will appeal any decision against him. "Delay-delay-delay" is his go-to strategy. Hopefully her actions aren't making that easier to achieve.
As a person I admire her commitment to public service, and her awareness of her role in this historical event. I'm just concerned that Trump is going to wiggle out of all the legal jeopardy he's in.

(1,967 posts)I dont know it jist seems like people are so wound up (for good reason) that we are expecting this person to live life like we would have them lice. That isnt fair to her.

(12,604 posts)CNN legal analyst Elie Honig, a former federal and state prosecutor, discussed her actions on Anderson Cooper's show.
COOPER: First of all why this person is talking on TV, I do not understand. Because, shes clearly enjoying herself, but I mean, is this responsible? She was the foreperson of this grand jury!
HONIG: This is a horrible idea And I guarantee you that prosecutors are wincing, watching her go on this
COOPER: I was wincing just watching her eagerness to like, hint at stuff.
HONIG: Its painful in that respect. Thats a very serious prospect here. Were talking about indicting any person, youre talking about potentially taking away that persons liberty were talking about potentially former president for the first time in this nation of history. She does not seem to be taking that very seriously.
COOPER: Theres no reason for her to be out talking.
HONIG: No. Its a prosecutors nightmare. Mark my words, Donald Trumps team is going to make a motion if theres an indictment to dismiss that indictment based on grand jury impropriety. Shes not supposed to be talking about anything, really. But shes really not supposed to be talking about the deliberations. Shes talking about what specific witnesses they saw, what the grand jury thought of them. She says some of them we found credible, some we found funny. I dont know why thats relevant, but shes been saying we found this guy funny or interesting. I think shes potentially crossing a line here. Its gonna be a real problem for prosecutors.
On the other side we have this from a Trump attorney: This is our defense team's dream
With our democracy on the line -- and if Trump is not held responsible for his attempted self-coup, January 6 will have been practice for 2024 -- I think the actions of everyone involved, including investigators, prosecutors, judges and jurors should be held to the highest standards. Even the appearance of impropriety cannot be permitted; Trump will slither through the tightest of cracks.
She seems like a very nice person, but naive. Saying we shouldn't expect any surprises is a surprise in and of itself. I think she has been treated incredibly fairly, considering what's on the line. I think it's fair to evaluate her statements and demeanor, and to examine her possible motives.
If she writes a book before TFG is indicted, all bets are off.
Thank you for your posts. They have helped me clarify my thinking about the matter.

(1,967 posts)I didnt know she was a lawyer.
Also other legal minds have said she has done nothing wrong and given nothing to the prosecutors. I was listening to one just the other day on one if the stations claiming that at most they coukd argue for a change if venue but that was likely to happen anyway. I think people are mostly nervously speculating that something bad is going to happen because of HER when in reality if something bad happens it likely has nothing to do with her but as a system failure in itself. SHE certainly shouldnt be held responsible for that given multiple outlets including the judge have said she has done nothing wrong. If we are going to start taking away 1A rights from people for serving on juries
. We have some very large fish to fry.
