"President Obama's War on Coal" - WTF? You want to see the cause of death of the Coal Industry?
This graph shows the spot prices for natural gas over the years. Notice that gas that used to compete with coal when the gas was selling for $12~$13 is now selling for just over $2. Natural gas is the fuel of choice for running power plants, the traditional use for coal. The gas burns cleaner and the plants are cheaper to build and maintain when gas is used. So the price of natural gas drops to about one sixth of the price it was just a couple of years ago and that pushes coal right out of the market. The result? Well, Republicans claim that the lack of demand for coal that results is because the President is waging war on it. What utter nonsense.
