Skinner, can you create a "Politics 2014" forum for the mid-terms

Last edited Sat Nov 17, 2012, 06:22 PM - Edit history (1)

Howard Dean took back Congress against a lot of odds in the mid-terms of 2006. None other than Karl Rove himself praised Dr. Dean by name this week for his wildly successful "50-state strategy" just this week in an interview.

Because we Democrats don't typically turn out in mid-terms (2010 really was painful on so many dimensions), and because we have the numbers on our side if we can turn them out, and because I'd rather see our focus here on the importance of the 2014 mid-terms than a lot of numbing speculation about who will run for President in 2016, and because we need to take back the House of Representatives and I know we can, and because of too many other good reasons, I ask you...

Please ponder establishing a "Politics 2014" forum just like your "Politics 2012" forum as soon as you can. I imagine it's already in the bright heads of the DU's Administrators, but this is a humble, heart felt request from one of your original members.

2014. Take back the House! Create a Super Majority in the Senate! And move this country forward.

Sincerely,

David Zephyr

On Jan. 1st will will bid farewell to Politics 2012. It was a great discussion in what turned out to be a great year for Democrats.

Let's get folks focused on our next opportunity to take back the House. I believe it can be done with turn-out. It may be that some Rs that look safe now may prove vulnerable. Let's beat the gerrymandering dirty tricks.

We have to win back the House but we also have to win seats in our statehouses so we can beat back anti-choice laws and redistricting!

Go get 'em!

There are many vulnerable Republicans in House Seats just waiting to be blown away. Let's get a list of them together.

Let's begin and focus on that vulnerability. 2014 belongs to the People this time.

Also the NYC mayoralty, plus special elections to replace anyone who, ahem, decides to spend more time with his family (or with his defense lawyer).

Not sure if we will call it Politics 2014 -- after all, there are important races in 2013. Maybe we'll just call it "General Discussion: Politics".
