OP
A question: can any charity, however well-meaning, actually accomplish anything in Gaza?

I checked out Give.org (apparently a Better Business Bureau affiliate), and MECA is not rated.

Weve considered throwing additional support to MSF, but they cant get in and the people needing care cant get out.

The Middle East Childrens Alliance (MECA) is a nonprofit humanitarian aid organization based in Berkeley, California. We support children and families in Palestine, Iraq and Lebanon through:
Direct aid including food, medicine, medical supplies, and clothes as well as books, toys and school supplies. Since 1988, we have sent more than $29 million in aid to children in Palestine, Iraq and Lebanon
Financial support and professional assistance to community organizations in the West Bank and Gaza that help meet Palestinian childrens needs, including clinics, kindergartens, counseling centers, libraries; accessible parks and playgrounds; sports teams, and dance, music and art programs
University scholarships for Palestinians in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank
Educational and cultural programs in the US and internationally to increase understanding about the lives of children in the Middle East and the impact of US foreign policy on people in the region

This charitable organization either has not responded to written BBB requests for information or has declined to be evaluated in relation to BBB Standards for Charity Accountability. Charity participation in BBB review is voluntary. However, without the requested information, it is not possible to determine whether this charity adheres to all of the BBB Standards for Charity Accountability. The BBB encourages charities to disclose accountability information beyond that typically included in financial statements and government filings, in order to demonstrate transparency and strengthen public trust in the charitable sector.

Don't know how reputable Charity Watch is, but they have some pretty familiar charity organizations on their top 15 list:
