The entire video was one red herring and straw-man after another. To claim "Woke" people don't know about early Enlightenment thinkers is ridiculous, not to mention the Enlightenment was basically the beginning of wokeness. Man is Maher obsessed with wokeness and to him it's the root of all evil, which is ridiculous. You can't rip on wokeness and praise the Enlightenment at the same time. They are one in the same in a lot of ways. And just because there are wonderful things that came out of Western Civilization doesn't mean everything was wonderful. Most of the bad stuff wasn't from the Enlightenment, it came from Religion's propensity for conquering and war and things like Manifest Destiny. And just because the United Nations voted to put Israel in the middle of Palestine doesn't mean they should continue the settlements. Not sure what the fuck him bringing in "Drag Queen Story Hour" has to do with any of this other than to be an ass towards trans people just trying to get by.
This stuff isn't black and white. It's gray as fuck and there are good and bad people on both sides. Maher is a master at trying to make something complicated appear black and white and this does nothing to help bring workable solutions that require both sides to compromise, not have terrorists fuck things up and then a heavy handed Gov. with a lot more weapons, just return the terrorism.
