What difference does it make when Obama knew about the Petraius affair? What is the point the repubs are making on that? So what if he did know before the election? How would that have made a difference in the election?

My guess is that Petraeus was told to get his shit together and given a decent period in which to resign and thus keep his pension.

so they can impeach him. If they can't actually catch him in a lie, they will just make it up and furiously promote it, as if it were true. Like now.

All the doubt- casting helps with eventual impeachment charges, which, like Clinton will revolve around a slip of the tongue (since Obama has committed no crimes or actionable "gaffes&quot --If they can hold hearings over something (Benghazi) and somehow get Obama under oath (you would NEVER catch Bush or Cheney doing this) then they can trap him. Like they did Clinton.

7. Even if he had lied, they can't impeach him just for lying

He would have to have lied under oath, I would think. I know the constitution doesn't say what constitutes grounds for impeachment, but I would think the president would have to commit some sort of crime. Lying in public speeches isn't really a crime, unless it's directed to a govt. agency.

Obviously I am not saying the president did lie. All of the evidence indicates that he wasn't told until a day before Congress was. Even if he did somehow know, he never lied about it...nobody ever asked him if Petreaus was having an affair.
