Kylie Cheung has this to say:
Abortion is a winning issue: Polls show broad bipartisan support for abortion rights. Candidates even in deep red states like Kentucky have won their races by vocally championing abortion rights. Every single abortion rights ballot measure since Roe fell, from Kansas to Ohio, has won decisively. Of course Biden wants to align himself with thisbut hes yet to show any willingness to actually do the work, fight, push, and get his hands dirty to meaningfully help us.

(25,598 posts)Lots of complaining. No solutions. What does the author think Biden should do? Specifics, please.
Many of those issues are either already state issues or reverted to the states since Roe fell. If you want solutions, get to work regaining state legislatures and governorships.
As for federal issues, he can only sign what's put in front of him. Get him a Congress that will produce something to address those issues, and I'm sure he'll sign it.

(786 posts)Any law passed by Congress can be overturned by the Court. The only way to restore them permanently is to pass a constitutional amendment and unfortunately that is not likely.

Once read a long article about voting rights and had to go back and read it again to make sure -- no mention that all of the voting rights restrictions were in Republican states. You know, because both parties the same, both sides.

(1,408 posts)1) solidify Roe v Wade in state constitutions;
2) require health insurance providers cover all reproductive health expenses;
3) put forth a comprehensive, age appropriate sex ed curriculum starting in grade school and continuing through high school.
We best promote democratic values by showing that they work.
Failing education systems, dying economies, and maternal mortality will eventually force red states to adapt.

(32,878 posts)We have to be very clear with these people. They don't know Roe. The don't know Dobbs. They don't know which political party pushed for it. Remember, all of this is unfolding during President Biden's term.
