He's begging, demanding to be jailed. It's his obvious strategy, so he can get his kangaroo court to intervene and overturn everything.

I suggest some heavy fines.

The Debt Penalty for him.

And as has been pointed out multiple times in various threads, the maximum monetary penalty for violating the gag order is $1000 per violation.

He was representing himself, and every time he spoke he verbally attacked the judge, the DA, several of the arresting officers, and a local state representative.

The judge allowed him plenty of leeway, and afterwards he told us that he wanted to deny the defendant any grounds for appeal o the basis that the judge prevented him from speaking, etc. I wonder if something similar is at play here.

Guilty on all counts, by the way.

A defendant can spout off about the judge outside the presence of the jury with virtually no consequences.

There may be other violations of the gag order that will sink him, but this one ain't it. He's free to criticize Biden and the judge, but most others connected to the trial are off limits.

He is barred from talking about the Judge's family, the DA's family, court employees and their families, jurors and anyone who could reasonably be expected to get called as a witness. That last one would be primarily Cohen, Daniels and McDougal, with Cohen being the one who is attacking Trump the most, so the one most likely to goad Trump into violating the gag.

I've started wondering if Cohen is doing it to purposely provoke Trump in the hope that he gets locked up for a few days to cool his heels. I've also started to wonder if Bragg is going to call Cohen to testify at all, he is damaged goods as a witness. He admitted to lying under oath to the J6 committee and you can be sure the defense will attack his credibility. The other witnesses are doing such a good job of confirming the things I would expect Cohen to testify to, that Bragg might not feel the need to call him. IANAL, but that would surely take away one of the key paths the defense would use to attack the case.

That's not a reason to not call him to testify. If they want to get the tape in, which maybe they did already, but if they want corroboration, they're gonna have to call him.

Lots of talk about Cohen not coming in. Maybe yes, maybe no, we'll see. But, everyone knows about his past troubles, all of that will be examined for the jury, and then they can decide if they want to believe him or not. The Prosecutors will decide if he damages their case, but I don't think so. And he is cooperating, cutting off his jabs at Trump in prep, and getting ready.

In case you haven't noticed, Trump's violation of the gag order is his defense. He's going to do this with or without Cohen's jabs. And, I myself want to see Trump in jail, and I am not a witness. There are lots of people who want that, not just Cohen.

To my mind that gives him more credibility than anyone on the Trump** side. I suppose not everyone sees it that way.

For future reference, here is the text of the current iteration of the gag order:

Defendant is directed to tefrain from:
a. Making or directing othets to make pubhc statements about known or reasonablv foteseeable witnesses concerning their potential
participation in the investigation ot in this cnminal proceeding;
b. Making or directing others to make public statements about (1) counsel in the case ot}er than the District Attorney, (2) members of the Court's staff and the District Attorney's staff, or (3) the family members of any counsel, stafi member, the Court or the District Attorney, if those statements are made with the intent to materially interfere with, or to cause others to matedally interfere with, counsel's or staffs work in this crimrnal case, or with the knowledge that such interference is likely
to result; and
c. Making or directing others to make public statements about any prospective juror or any juror in this criminal proceeding.

A lot of posters seem to think that violations of gag orders commonly result in someone going to jail. Not so. First, the prosecution has not asked for that penalty, which is the highest level of penalty -- typically reserved for someone who engages in contempt behavior in front of a jury to the point where their presence in the courtroom is disruptive. That hasn't occurred here. The standard process is one of escalation -- fines, followed by more fines, with a threat of incarceration, followed by incarceration.
