Eleven-year-old a hero to soldiers

DOVER, TENN. — Holiday Mail for Heroes has its own hero in 11-year-old Janesa Wine, who has collected 14,053 cards for the American Red Cross’s Holiday Mail for Heroes Program.

She expected no reward for her efforts, which she considered a reward in itself.

The precocious homeschooler from Dickson was shocked, then, when Red Cross National Celebrity Cabinet Member Amy Grant popped into the Nashville Red Cross office to see her when she and her family brought the three huge totes of cards to be delivered.

And Janesa was even more shocked when Grant asked Janesa to perform with her and husband Vince Gill at the Dec. 20 Christmas Show.
