That the Mayans would refer to their own time zone for matters of world annihilation. I know I would.

It's still only 9:40 in the morning here and the official solstice isn't until 11:12. Don't speak too soon

that 'we" (I think he meant his hatemonger groupies) are leaving this planet "soon, very soon". Okay, I know he's not one o' them Mayans, but maybe I should pack a bag anyway? Not sure what I'd put in it, I don't think I'll need toothpaste and deodorant.

If you have a small travel-size aerosol of "Zombie-B-Gone", you might want to keep it nearby.

...Myself, my brothers, and a couple of my cousins went to a matinee on the opening weekend of Star Wars, which was very exciting. Before Star Wars played there was a short documentary about the Mayans and the 2012 apocalypse prophecy. That was my first real detailed exposure to 2012 and as a child it really made an impression on me and fired my imagination.

Still, back then it seemed a long way off and as I got older my occasional interest in the topic led me to the conclusion that there would no apocalypse as envisioned in that short film before the showing of Star Wars. As the years passed I would occasionally stumble across the 2012 doomsday thing, most recently on the Doomsday Channel (aka History Channel). I would often think "My, the time is flying. Only 18 more years until doomsday in 2012". Then "Wow, only 7 more years 'til the end of the world.".

Now, suddenly out of nowhere, here we are...it's here. 35 years in the making. Please, can someone tell me, where did all that time go?
