As in congress as a whole having abyzmal ratings.
"But my congresscritter just SOOOOOO good!"
I'm hoping today's Ohio primary is a beginning of a genuine "Throw the bums out!" movement, one that can't be taken over by the Kochs and their fatcat cronies.

(4,507 posts)No doubt Issa is salivating over Kucinich's loss. Does that make you happy.. Kucinich did quite well in his home town districts , where he is well known and voters know better than to listen to the views of outsiders.. Kucinich put the most fear into thug , Chair Issa of any other member of Government Operations Committee. And they call Kucinich ineffective. What fools we are.

(62,325 posts)It did not matter to Boehner whether it was Marcy Kaptur or Dennis Kucinich. He wanted to eliminate one Democratic seat and he succeeded and here we are on DU, celebrating that.
I agree with your reaction

(4,802 posts)Kucinich was one of the most ethical members of Congress.. Look at Kucinich's pac money contributions and compare them to Kapturs.. It is Kaptur who should be put under suspicion as being the bum.. Money talks and image makers rule the airwaves. Unfortunately some even here at the DU fall under their prey.. As for me.. Kucinich was one of the few members of the party to draw me to the party.. the loss of figures such as Kucinich is only cause to drop out of the money game that controls our congress.

(57,936 posts)We really have to lick our wounds and get on with the job of electing a majority of Democrats for Congress as well as the President.
I apologize if I sound like a scold, but we cannot lose this election. Look at how horrible these two years are. The Republican majority in Congress is a disaster.
Kucinich will find a venue, hopefully one that permits him to have more influence with the public than his seat in Congress has allowed. Kucinich is a creative thinker with good moral values. Marcy Kaptur is a very practical person.
Pitting them against each other was a cruel thing to do. But Kucinich will find his voice and his opportunities. He is too important to be silenced.

(12,875 posts)The redistricting deliberately disenfranchised the entire northern tier of Ohio. "Moving on" is not an option for those people. Marcy Kaptur was basically given a safe seat in return for almost every other Dem in Ohio losing theirs. The fact that some here on DU are celebrating Kucinich's loss should tell us everything we need to know about the direction things are headed in November.

(4,802 posts)Tying Kucinich to Jimmy Dimora in an attack ad will not be forgotten.. I expect such behavior from the Repukes.. She will not get my vote and or money .. I had expected more from her but she failed. She is disgusting and I will not get over it.. Besides, didn't we learn from 2010 , should we elect a bunch of blue dogs, the difference won't be enough to again have the general public turn against us.. Republican hate is not enough to salvage the Democratic party from another 2010 disaster in either 2014 or 2016.

I would like to hear that explained

(4,847 posts)I'd have to study, to see. If he did vote against it, there could be reasons why. One reason comes to mind, is a rider was on the bill. congresscritters love to attach things that wouldn't normally pass on things that are beneficial. Some attachments are very damaging.

(38,958 posts)I however, disagree with what appears to be a rather snarky comment about Dennis Kucinich.
I believe it is a loss for us all, engineered by redistricting.

(102,509 posts)What do you have against Dennis? he was redistricted.
And if there is a indiscriminate wave of removing incumbents, we will be seriously hurt as well

(4,847 posts)just vote for someone further to the right (if you can believe that) than mean jean. Yeah, throw all of the bums out and vote for some that want to bring the good old days back. Of course, I'm torn between the good old robber baron days (deregulating, anti-labor), the good old the church rules your life days (anti-women, anti-gay, shove our beliefs down your throats), or the good old goosestepping hitler days (now it's anti-muslim, still anti-gay, anti-liberal, anti-unionists).

(4,847 posts)but, reading on another thread; mean jean is out that's good; but the guy who won may be more batshite crazy than she is; and he's fully endorsed by the teabaggers. It's like going "out of the frying pan and into the fire."
I am saddened and disheartened to see kuccinich go, though. He was very pro-labor. Because of redistricting, the repugs have made it even harder for more democrats to win in ohio.

(24,461 posts)For The WIN.
The race I'm concerned about will be Renacci vs Sutton. How Jim Renacci is popular is beyond me completely. Are voters just THAT fucked up in the 16th?
Sherrod Brown vs Josh Mandel. PLEASE. Ohio better have learned it's Kat$hit lesson quickly.

(24,461 posts)Way too many stupid voters that allow WAY too many right-of-Teahad Repukes in office and they continually wonder why this state goes nowhere. Ted Strickland had the SAME economy as 49 other states did . . . there was absolutely NO reason whatsoever to replace him with a Wall-Streeter Fauxite such as Kat$hit other than the fact that our voters are just plain not educated. They do whatever the hell Faux tells them to do (in this case, blame the Demmycrats for Bewsh/Taft's shitting of the economy). If it weren't for the votes in semi-big cities that Kerry and Gore didn't get, Obama would have lost Ohio. McCain, thankfully, was just THAT bad a candidate.

He said Kuchinic didn't give a tinker's dam about people in his own district.
Except in election years.
Found these also on his Wikipedia page:
Kucinich is currently drafting legislation that includes a ban on the purchase, sale, transfer, or possession of handguns by civilians.
In a Democratic debate during the 2008 Presidential Election, Kucinich and Mike Gravel were the only two candidates who favored lowering the legal drinking age to 18

(4,876 posts)One person told you he didn't like him. He's for strict gun control, and he thinks if you are old enough to carry the governments gun and kill with it you should be old enough to drink. That's what you have? Really?
He's also anti-death penalty. You missed that one. He's pro-single payer too. Oh and he thinks war takes money away from the middle class and poor and gives it to war profiteers.
Yeah. What an asshole.

(46,373 posts)I just don't feel like cutting and pasting all that Kucinic stuff.
Kucinic (how do you spell his name and for that matter pronounce it anyway?) showed his lack of class when he slammed Marcy Kaptur's campaign, rahter than bowing out gracefully.

(37,748 posts)It's a "trend" predicated on redistricting... not on throwing anyone out.
But, as it allowed you to slam a progressive democrat, I imagine that you believe it's merely a distinction without a difference; as is 1% of the whole being referred to as a "trend"...
