He issued a paragraph of weasel words making excuses for using two words rather than indicating that he had regret for what he actual was saying about this young woman and women as a whole.

He's no better than Limbaugh if he defends such behavior. To hell with him. Furthermore, advertisers didn't pull their ads to "intimidate". They pull them because they DO NOT want their name associated with a feces-tossing, hate-spewing windbag. It's embarrassing and makes them look bad.

Secondly, Limbaugh DID NOT "apologize". He made excuses and blamed others for his behavior. He in no way took responsibility for HIS behavior.

Maher is as big an idiot as Limbaugh is.

Murkowski 'Stunned' By Rush's 'Incendiary Comments'

Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) told TPM on Tuesday that she was "stunned" by Rush Limbaugh's smear of Georgetown law student Sandra Fluke.

"There was the incendiary comments made by Rush Limbaugh that I think are just adding to this sense that women's health rights are being attacked," Murkowski said.

"The comments made by Limbaugh, I was just stunned," she added. "In the end, I'm a little bit disappointed that there hasn't been greater condemnation of his words by people in leadership positions."

Including Republicans? "Everybody," she responded. "What he said was just wrong. Just wrong."

Bill Maher just enjoys being "Politically Incorrect". But this isn't about a political statement, it's an attack on a person. Heck I defended Don Imus... partly because Rush wouldn't have been touched for the sort of thing Imus said...

The rest of the time, he's an ignorant douche bag.

Bill, what you don't get is that this is much bigger than any idividual comment that Limbaugh has made. It's about our airwaves and our public discourse being poisoned with hate, vitriol, and ignorance. We're tired of that. We're tired of listening to insane blowhards preach the most vile, fascist crap and get away with it every day.

It's about a return to sanity in our county Bill. Fuck Limbaugh and his bullshit apology, which he only gave after days of being defiant and even more pig headed and then suddenly had a change of heart when his advertisers bailed on him. This man has been nothing but poison to our country and the planet.

If you're really fooled by Limbaugh's apology Bill, then do me a favor, don't ever lecture anybody on politics again. Because I really thought you were smarter than that.

He didn't think Obama should have bailed out the car company that supplies me with a living for instance, but we generally are on the same page with most issues.

If I agreed with someone 100% of the time, I'd think I was being insincerely pandered to.

Boycotting Bill Maher would require cancelling HBO, and the people who hate Maher already did that long ago. "Game Change", the upcoming movie about Sarah Palin, is more of a reason for those people to cancel. Nobody watches HBO for the movies anymore in this Netflix world.

And it will be hard for us to protest or complain with credibility if we engaged in the same tactics against conservatives.

I think that's Maher's main point.

Remember when his ABC-TV program was removed from the air after 9/11?

And the highly rated Smothers Brothers CBS-TV show was cancelled due to sponsorship pressure that right-wingers brought?

And remember all of the 50's writers, producers and entertainers who were blacklisted by sponsors during the 50's for being "leftists"?
That highly successful campaign was organized by right-wing outfits.

This is not simply just a controversial show or some innocent people that are being hounded for their beliefs, this is the king of the Right Wing propaganda machine! The king of the brainwashing of America for at least the past 24 years (which is the reason why politics is so divisive now and why nothing can get done!) And not just that, the king of the right wing propaganda machine offending just about every woman out there with extremely sexist and misogynistic remarks, and that a person like him shouldn't even be on the air with the hate, conspiracy theories, and the tons of blatant lying and twisting that he does on the show on a daily basis.

You'll see that the next time they urge sponsors to cancel a progressive show and we attack the right for censorship!

They will throw that right in our faces.

It's similiar to when we urge the government to prohibit right-wing demonstrations. That always bites us in the ass when the government responds by also restricting our right of assembly.

This isn't about an epithet and it's not just about Rush. It's about abuse as old as the human race and not taking it. Maher has some good liberal viewpoints andhe's funny and sharp on many things but he's as condescending and misogynistic toward women as most of the RW.

For twenty+ years Limbaugh's hateful demagoguery has masqueraded as his "absurdities;" nothing but a micro thin veneer which hid to too many the ugliness within Rush's language, the American People have only become more polarized as a result.

I believe the nation had its' fill we're waking up, it's time for Limbaugh and his ilk to go, retirement is calling.

Thanks for the thread, Amerigo Vespucci.
