Paula Deen's Horribly Racist Quote From The Lawsuit Against Her
Here's the unedited, jaw-dropping passage from the lawsuit against Paula Deen that's been getting so much attention. Lisa Jackson, a former employee of Paula Deen Enterprises, is suing Deen and her brother, Earl Bubba Hiers, for multiple instances of workplace discrimination, both sexual and racial. This is an alleged exchange from the lawsuit in which Jackson is asking Paula Deen what kind of wedding she would like to see for her brother. WARNING: N-word.

(14,400 posts)that it's not a quote it's "an alleged exchange" from someone in a lawsuit. Actually calling it a quote and using that picture next to it is quite possibly actionable but it's not like buzzfeed has ever cared much about that anyway.

(27,461 posts)important to include that word, it's there in the radar online story but Buzzfeed wrongly took it out, and made that photoshop, which is premature.

The woman is a greedy fraud. Time for her to retire from public life.

No amount of make-up, dental work, or pearls can cover who you reveal yourself to be.
I hope the plaintiff prevails.

(70,639 posts)Grain of salt time. This is an alleged quote that is sourced from somebody who is
suing Ms. Deen. Until it is confirmed this is just slanderous accusation by a person
w/ an interest in making Ms. Deen look bad.

she will deny that it ever happened, and oprah will believe her.

(49,038 posts)First you have to ask if it's even true. Then you have to ask if maybe the accuser's memory is clouded by anger. Then you have to ask how a quote could have been rearranged to make something look worse.
Say, for instance, Paula Deen said "What I'd really like is a true southern wedding, like in the old Shirley Temple days, but then the media would be on me, claiming I wanted little black kids dancing around in white shirts and bow ties." The basic words are there, but the meaning is completely different. For a lawsuit, you remember things in a format more convenient for your purposes.
Not saying Deen didn't say exactly that. Just that we have no way of knowing. I guess if they have a lot of witnesses who saw her drop the N word casually in conversation, that would be supporting evidence.

(42,002 posts)I can't link for shit but the article says a judge refused to issue a gag order because the person suing her had made the claim and Deen's lawyers say it's a failed extortion attempt.
Let the chips fall before you freak out on Deen.
