Mitt Romney campaign: It would take 'an act of God' for Rick Santorum to win

Mitt Romney campaign: It would take 'an act of God' for Rick Santorum to win

by Jed Lewison

Mitt Romney's campaign says their guy is a stone cold guarantee to win the Republican nomination ... unless God has a problem with that:

Mitt Romney's campaign gathered the national press corps in their campaign war room this morning to deliver a simple message: It would take an "act of God" for any candidate not named Mitt Romney to win the Republican nomination.

Now I know they were just using a figure of speech, but I'm not sure that's a figure of speech I'd recommend using in today's Republican Party ... especially when Rick Santorum is their main opponent. And I definitely wouldn't use that language while taking Santorum voters for granted:

“The areas we didn’t do as well in are rural and they are more anti-Obama,” a senior campaign aide said. “We feel very confident about how we’re going to do in those counties.

At least they are realistic enough to realize these voters will never like Mitt Romney. Of course, that means they are betting their success in these areas on hatred of Obama, not the strength of their guy. And whatever they do, they really aren't that important anyway:

“And in fact we did best in those counties we’re going to have to score best in order to win the (general) election in Ohio,” the aide added, referring to areas around the cities of Columbus and Cincinnati.

Newsflash, guys: President Obama got more votes than Mitt Romney in last night's primary. And he doesn't even have a primary to worry about—there was no reason for anyone to vote in it. And he still did better. You don't have the luxury to taunt your opponents. And you certainly don't have the luxury of dismissing your opponents supporters as irrelevant.

The idiot is doing it again, inviting people to investigate just how the Mormon religion thinks of God and that He comes from a planet in outer space.

Rmoney is getting a free pass on his magic underwear, his god with a penis on Kolob, his church's suppression of black people INTO the 1970s...

10. Is Santorum going to play the Mormon card?

If ever he was going to play it, the time is now, as the campaign is shifting to the heavily Evangelical Christian south. Frankly, the only thing I like about Romney is the fact he isn't talking about God every two seconds, unlike Santorum. But in Romney's case, he doesn't dwell on God because he doesn't want to draw attention to the fact that the Mormon God is named Elohim, that he lives on the planet Kolob, that Elohim visited Earth more than 2,000 years ago, had sex with the Virgin Mary that engendered Jesus, and that Jesus therefore is the son of a space alien.

he is COUNTING on it, and would likely say this himself with national news cameras rolling.

And there are lots of people who would vote for him BECAUSE he said it. Why do you think ANYONE is voting for him? EVERY vote he gets is from a religious nut.

ANY rational conservative would want Newt, or if they are moderate, Romney. There is NO reason a secular, rational person - even if they are SEVERELY conservative - would ever choose Santorum.
