http://www.wpxi.com/news/news/local/arrest-made-when-federal-agents-raid-wilkinsburg-a/nLTgC/#commentsPolice are detaining a man accused of promoting anti-American violence, although there is no direct link to any terrorist groups at this time.
On Thursday, federal agents raided Khalifah Ali Al-Akili's Wilkinsburg apartment and took him away in handcuffs.
While there is no direct link to any terrorist groups, the anti-American promotional videos on YouTube and other social media sites caused the Department of Homeland Security to be alerted, according to Channel 11's Alan Jennings.

Jennings said investigators pulled Jihadist literature from Ali Al-Akili's apartment and computers. So far, no charges have been filed.

So:
-No ties to an actual terrorist organization.
-"Made it known" he wanted to join the Taliban
-Arrested on "gun charges" but not officially charged.
-They don't say whose "anti-American promotional videos" were on YouTube, etc. That's a very vague sentence.
-He's been at odds with the police. He was in prison for drugs once. He got drunk and he punched a woman in a bar fight.
The sad thing is, he could be placed in indefinite detention, based on what they've said here.

(4,452 posts)3. Having watched the news broadcast from WPXI about the story I call BS
He was sincere in his intentions but had no skills to offer any sort of threat. He's just another meaningless feather in the cap for the security theater we must endure post Sept 2001.

The man's only really crime is having a scary "Muslim" name. The proof of this is the fact that the neo-Nazi's at Stormfront and other such sites of that ilk are still wandering around the face of this planet free.
The man is, in essence, being arrested for a thought crime. Welcome to our brave new world.
