For years and years, I've had Yahoo News as my "home page," to start my morning with -- you guessed it -- NEWS.
I used to get the NY Times and then the Washington Post, but after their roles in "Gore is a Liar" and the entire George W. Bush pack of lies, I ended my subscriptions. I figured I'd just read the news straight from the wires, conveniently collected alongside local news on Yahoo.
But it's gotten worse and worse. From propping up Politico the second they came on the scene, to adding absolutely insipid "opinion" pieces, to writing absurd and misleading headlines, to choosing wildly inappropriate front page stories and photographs -- we now have Yahoo/ABC's "Top Line Power Players" featured as one of the three main stories this morning.
I don't know who these people are, what makes them "power players," or why the camera won't stay in one place for more than 2 seconds (LITERALLY) -- let alone all the frenzied effects (now it's black and white, now we're seeing them from a studio monitor, now it's sideways, now we're 30 feet away) -- but it's beyond annoying to see actors breathlessly hailing the demise of the weak bit of health care reform that passed.

Maybe I'll go back to the NY Times.

(29,503 posts)I never ever ever venture to Huffington or NY Times or any of the mainstream US sources, since they are all so biased in favor of the American right-wing.

Yahoo News is my home page, too. I can't stand it any more either. I think I may be going here:
http://multiamerican.scpr.org/ or to Amy's page.

Turn the volume down and imagine this were some kind of action-movie you are watching. You'll notice the similarities in style.
For example: Dragging a moment by showing it over and over again from different angles? That's why they show you the same scene also on a studio monitor and in black-and-white.
