Canada: 'Pierre Poutine' taped election call impersonating Liberals

The robo-calls fraudster who hid behind the alias Pierre Poutine recorded a second misleading election-day message for Guelph voters that he never used: one that impersonated a call from Liberal candidate Frank Valeriotes campaign. The unknown operative has also set up a second fake caller ID that would have shown robo-calls as coming from Mr. Valeriotes campaign office at 519-837-2651. It also went unused.
Allan Mathews, the Elections Canada investigator probing robo-calls that sought to suppress the vote in the Southwestern Ontario riding during the 2011 federal ballot, has filed more documents in court detailing what hes uncovered.
According to new filings, Matt Meier, the CEO of the Alberta firm used to make the robo-calls, also told Elections Canada that Pierre initially telephoned him directly on his unlisted office extension and asked for him by name when setting up his robo-calling account.
Pierre referred to knowing someone in the Conservative Party, Elections Canada investigator Al Mathews said.
