Dutch play: Norway gunman, Anders Breivik, 'meets' Dutch right-wing MP, Geert Wilders, on stage

gunman Anders Behring Breivik and Dutch far-right leader Geert Wilders, in Amsterdam.

AMSTERDAM: A chance encounter between a Norwegian gunman on a crusade against multiculturalism and a Dutch anti-Islamist right-wing politician takes place in a controversial play presented Thursday at an Amsterdam theatre.

"Breivik meets Wilders" depicts a fictional meeting between self-confessed killer Anders Behring Breivik and Dutch far-right lawmaker Geert Wilders at London's Heathrow airport in March 2010 -- more than year before the Norwegian's shooting rampage that left 77 people dead.

"Several issues are being touched upon like the value of democracy, multi-culturalism, the Middle East and the situation in Europe," De Balie said in a press release.

"We are not giving extremism a platform, we are only asking questions about contemporary issues," added Youri Albrecht, De Balie's director, saying "these are two lone wolves who have different opinions and go their separate ways without changing."

Should be a thought-provoking play.
