Wow! What a justification for discrimination against a segment of the populous! Let's justify it by advocating the discrimination of another major segment of the population. What a bunch of douches!
Think Progess article
Maloy claims she came to the polls to urge voters to oppose the measure, but soon found herself in a 30 minute conversation with the senators wife, who was passing out flyers in favor of the amendment. It just became clear to me that she couldnt hear anything I said. She wasnt willing to consider one word out of my mouth, Maloy said. Brunstetter mentioned race half way through the discussion. She said the white race is diminishing and I asked her why that alarmed her and thats when she said, you know, that white people had founded this country.
If this meme gets out, it's going to hurt the Repubs.

(40,416 posts)Suffice it to say that this state senator's wife is making a profoundly ignorant pronouncement. Apparently, two black women witnessed it, and changed their position on Amendment 1.
I am appalled at how the teabaggers have transformed the political turf. In my 63 years I've never seen such overt hatred, not even in the sixties, when I first became politically aware. They aren't even attempting to hide it.
It makes me very sad for our country. What if they win in November?
Please everybody. Work hard!

(13,657 posts)this country. Thinking it's been taken away from them. What those guys did was work during the golden age when people had the best jobs this country ever had. They didn't do squat except for make it to work and get through the days.
I worked with guys that are retired now. Many of whom were the most entitled attitude workers I've ever seen. They felt they deserved to be semi-retired by the time they were 50. Supervisors that were a joke! No one gets away with what they did these day. A couple of those jobs at the beer distributor I worked at for years do not even exist now. What replaced them doesn't pay nearly what it used to. You definitely don't have someone just hanging around most of the day just in case something needs to be done.
I know a few "working class heroes" that couldn't get or keep a job these days the way they were in the 80's. You don't show up hungover every day and drive a forklift anymore.

Bash the racist TPers who claim white people built America but let's go easy on the workers, please?

Don't be afraid because they might not like your politics. Do you think the GOPers are afraid? Hell no.
Pass it on. Liberally.
I am, right now.

(40,416 posts)Perfect. That is precisely what Dems have to say.
We are not feckless. Damn! We know that Obama isn't. We only hope that his political advisers step up to the podium with him.
Myself, I like Axelrod. He seems ready to take the douche bags on. One hopes that he will have a prominent part in the upcoming campaign. Obama seems to be ready to do the same. One can only hope.

(18,186 posts)I remember reading a diary of a plantation wife in South Carolina. She was bitching because she couldn't get the slaves to go out into the rice paddies in the sweltering August humidity and heat(can you say "malaria?" .
In this arrogant white woman's diary, she whined that "white people aren't made to go out in the swamps - too delicate to cope with the heat and the mosquitoes." but then she turned around and called the black slaves lazy because they weren't exactly thrilled at the prospect either.
No, they weren't lazy; they just didn't want to get sick building a fortune for a racist, human-owning pig in crinolines.
Black people built the South and everything in it with blood, sweat and tears. Some ignorant Caucasians merely want to take all the credit - as usual.

(18,186 posts)I always laugh at people still bitching about all the stuff Sherman burned.
"Hell, it's not like YOU built it all," is my standard response. "All he did was make it so white people had to build their OWN shit."
