The episode is called Cousin Liz. Archie and Edith attend a funeral for Edith's cousin Liz. She never married and was a closeted lesbian who had a long relationship with a woman named Veronica. After the funeral reception, Archie wants Edith to take an expensive tea set that belonged to Liz, but then we learn that the tea set had a sentimental value to Veronica and Liz. Upon learning this, Edith immediately insists upon Veronica keeping the tea set, even though she really has no legal rights to it---or any of Liz's property. Archie protests loudly, but eventually gives in.
The episode reveals some of the problems associated with no legal recognition of gay couples, although I'm not sure if that was Norman Lear's intent.
