Alabama’s chief justice: Satan made Supreme Court ‘destroy the institution of God’ in marriage ruling

Outspoken Alabama Supreme Court Chief Justice Roy Moore told a church gathering on Sunday that the U.S. Supreme Court “destroyed the institution of God,” when they legalized same-sex marriage earlier this month.

The notoriously Bible-thumping judge somewhat forgave the justices by adding that their legal justifications were influenced by “Satan,” reports AL.com.

“How do they come out now and say that marriage, which is ordained by God, doesn’t mean what it’s always meant, between a man and woman?” Moore asked. “Not between two men, two women, or three women and one man.”

“See, they don’t have a definition. They’ve just destroyed the institution of God,” he went on to add. “Despite what they think, it’s not their doing. Satan drives us. He’s out there destroying everything God created including us as human beings.”

in the time honored "nuts" gesture, but this is the inevitable result of constantly ceding special protected class status to religious beliefs that makes them immune to critique in "polite" discourse.

If somebody, especially a well-educated professional like Moore, said space aliens from Sirius 5 were controlling the SCOTUS, there would be howls of derision and widespread calls for impeachment.

When we grow up and acknowledge there is, neither in logic nor in practical import, not the slightest fucking trillionth of an iota of difference between these two absurdities, society will be much better off. People can still believe in whatever comforting ineffable guesses they choose about eternal truths, but imagining some nefarious semi-divine trickster whispering into judges' ears as being an actual immanent, interactive presence is beyond what should be sanely acceptable in the 18th Century let alone the 21st.

He got his law degree from Ala. University in 77, after graduating West Point, going to Viet Nam as a tight ass MP who pissed almost everybody off..very Frank Burns like.
His continuous search for fame has led to him running as both Democrat and Republican, in races as Gov. of Ala. ( Lost 3 times)
and even attempted Pres, race in 2012.
His law career has resulted in several State Bar investigations.
He finally achieved fame around the famous 10 Commandments furor, and is now playing to the crowd as champion of Biblical marriage.
Same people down here see him as a George Wallace wannabee who has not noticed Ala. left the 1950's.

Has anybody bothered to count how many marriages from the Bible consist of 1 man and 1 woman? What's the percentage? And no incest-stuff either.

And last time I checked, I saw no ring on Eve's finger.

You'd think a guy as rough and tough as Judge Roy Moore would have an equally muscular God to kick asses and take names on his behalf?
