... Duval weeks ago attached a large metal Confederate battle flag to the side of the manufacturing plant, and hoisted a cloth flag to the top of his nearby residential flagpole ... Duval's flags appeared not long after the Williamsburg Planning Board on May 15 rejected a site plan application from CRD, and disappeared days after the Zoning Board of Appeals refused to grant the company a special permit to continue its operations ... Keith Harmon Snow of 84 Goshen Road, told The Republican / MassLive in a telephone conversation that several residents of Hyde Hill Road had put their homes on the market because of the guns being discharged at CRD ... In her letter to Duval, Steinitz says the Confederate battle flag "is a symbol of hatred. It is a symbol that represents the era of slavery, Jim Crow segregation, and the white supremacist resistance to the civil rights movement" ...
