YAaaaaaY!1 Eleanor R. tops the poll for woman on the $10 bill!1

Not to belittle some of the others, any of which accomplished more than I even if I lived to be 200, but:

1- Didn't Sacagawea cooperate with invaders against Native Americans? 2- EARHART, fine for courage and physical endurance, but not a depth of aspiration. 3- O'CONNOR -- is somebody *KIDDING* me?!1 (Do I need to 'splain here?!1) Btw, don't they have to be dead in order to be on the bills?

Poll shows Eleanor Roosevelt a favorite for the new $10 bill

More than one in four Americans are hoping the soon-to-be redesigned $10 bill will feature Eleanor Roosevelt, according to a McClatchy-Marist poll released Wednesday.

The poll showed the former first lady in first place with 27 percent, trailed by African-American abolitionist Harriet Tubman, who received 17 percent of 1,249 votes, and Native American explorer Sacagawea, who received 13 percent. ....

At a breakfast with reporters Lew said the administration had since received about 1.5 million pieces of feedback from the public on the bill's redesign, with inputs ranging from tweets and retweets to handwritten letters.

Other finalists in the McClatchy-Marist poll were women's rights activist Susan B. Anthony and pilot Amelia Earhart, who each received 11 percent of the vote. Former Supreme Court justice Sandra Day O'Connor garnered a distant 4 percent.

Roosevelt had a larger lead among women, earning 33 percent of the votes after they were broken down by gender. When votes were sorted according to race, Tubman led among African Americans with 47 percent, results showed. ....

Okay, okay, Washington and Lincoln are on both coins and paper currency, but c'mon. They're Washington and Lincoln, for crying out loud.

It's too bad we probably won't have paper money when Obama is eligible.

I'd prefer to see the 50 changed. That's not a slight against Grant, it's just that he's the one I could stand to lose. Regardless, it would be quite nice to see Mrs. Roosevelt on the currency. Hell, maybe we could rotate out who goes on the currency, so we could get more room for people like Harriet Tubman or Frances Perkins. Why not? After all, America's a lot more than just presidents.

Great Woman, and a great humanitarian, too. Kind of set the mold for first ladies to this day. Not many live up to her standard.
