An outspoken MP in Indias Lower House of Parliament has called for laws targeting homosexual men, marijuana users and people who use pornography to be considered as part of a government process of repealing obsolete and redundant laws.
Biju Janata Dal party chief whip Tathagata Satpathy made the comments on Thursday during a 10 minute speech on the Repealing and Amending (Fourth) Bill 2015 which seeks to repeal almost three hundred laws from the countrys civil code.
Satpathy said of Indias colonial era Section 377 ban on consensual gay sex, laws which are becoming archaic also need a re-look and probably they need repealing also.
Satpathy said laws that fractured Indian society by discriminating against some people made the country less able to stand united in the face of extremism.
If you want to combat those evil organizations like the ISIS, then you have to become a more alert and a more modern society which encompasses with affection every citizen of the nation, Satpathy said in his speech.
The moment you start differentiating, the moment you start dividing society, then you fall prey to the evil organizations like the ISIS.

maybe he sees christian missionaries as being too backwards if he wants more modernising. but i'm not familiar with his party and how he is when it comes to the hindu religion. and modi also wants modernisation but is still a hindu fundie so they could be both.

(89,286 posts)i think many who convert do so because they are of the lower caste and how they are treated by other hindus. even if the whole caste thing is illegal officially it's still practiced. especially many of the poorer areas. there could be issues with what you say also though and christians taking advantage of it to push their own thing. but then the fault is on both sides.
