That Time Megyn Kelly Made It Her Mission to Take Down Sandra Fluke(The Rude Pundit is on a beach vacation, squeezing in a bit of blogging in-between burning his shoulders, swimming near a giant ray, and dolphin watching.)
You remember Sandra Fluke? It wasn't that long ago, 2012, when she spoke before a Democratic congressional committee on the bullshit of conscience clauses and the nonsense of businesses and colleges trying not to cover birth control in their prescription drug health plans. She was viciously attacked on the right as a "slut" who just wanted to fuck like crazy, despite the fact that what she was saying was that poor women need to have contraception covered, sometimes for things that don't even involve fucking.
You know who was right down in the trenches of the war on Sandra Fluke? Fuckin' Megyn Kelly, that's who. The conservative "feminist" we're supposed to defend now because Donald Trump said some bitchy things about her couldn't get enough of attacking Fluke. Indeed, you could make a case that it was Kelly's targeting of Fluke that pleasured Roger Ailes and got her the primetime slot she's in now.
For instance, on The O'Reilly Factor, March 8, 2012, Kelly said, "Ms. Fluke would have the world believe that she is somehow a victim because she is at Georgetown Law School and is not getting her contraception paid for by the law school."
Kelly couldn't get enough of trying to lash out at Fluke, indulging slut-shamers and snarking the shit out of Fluke, proudly declaring that her daytime show was the first to go after the Georgetown graduate. Even recently, Kelly joined in a hategasm with Ann Coulter over President Obama calling Sandra Fluke when she was being attacked but not the family of a murdered woman.
So, you know, you're gonna have to count the Rude Pundit out of the whole "we should support Megyn Kelly" thing. It's not like she'd lift a goddamn finger for a woman on the right under fire from asshole misogynists. Hell, she'd likely just pile on.

(14,255 posts)women. Not only with impunity, but to approval and applause. Yes, she is disgusting (IMO) but what Trump said should not even be allowed on the air or in print, much less acceptable to the GOP.

(9,033 posts)not that Trump said it. I'm happy for him to keep saying crap like that because he amply demonstrates who they really are.
Consider the stark choice the country would be faced with if in the wildly improbable, but nonetheless increasingly possible event that Trump would face off against Bernie Sanders in the general election. In a sane country, Bernie would win 50 states; even in an insane one like ours, he should still win comfortably...and if he didn't, we'd deserve everything we'd get from a tRump presidency.
ETA: although I'm a Bernie supporter, I should note that facing off against Hillary would obviously involve an even starker contrast on this issue (duh...I need more coffee).

(14,255 posts)not Kelly. If he can say that stuff about her with impunity, everybody can say those things to or about any woman with impunity. On the air. To applause.

(269,278 posts)Check out the anti-women policies of the other ReTHUG candidates.
Sure they are offensive but words are wind compared with deeds.
Megyn Kelly and the other Fox RW hacks supports those policies.

(34,534 posts)without losing their jobs until SHE got pregnant, then she was on a maternity leave crusade. Typical despicable Republican--utterly incapable of empathy until the same awful thing happens to HER, then it's all "boo hoo me and it's so unfair." Trump and Kelly are both examples of how today's Republican party is utterly devoid of common decency and civility.

(1,151 posts)Make no mistake. She is the worst kind of evil. Her looks got her past any kind of self realization for her entire life. She is vile. Just like all the other blonde bimbos fix news uses to spread their hate and propaganda. She sold her soul a long time ago. For her to act all arrogant saying she has decided to allow good journalism speak for itself is a f ing joke. She is not a journalist. She is a spokes model.

(5,648 posts)when someone thoroughly disrupts the enemy's camp and gets away with it; instead I am going to applaud. The worse Trump acts while still maintaining his leading poll numbers, the more that the ugly underbelly of the Republican base is exposed to the public view.
Trump is also dominating media coverage of the Republican nomination process, depriving other more dangerous candidates of the media attention that they so desperately need at this stage of their campaigns. Scott Walker made his long anticipated announcement of his candidacy without much fanfare and a major Bush speech on his foreign policy positions went virtually unnoticed. Instead all of the attention was on Trump's outrageous behavior.
The longer the Trump circus lasts the better it will be for democratic candidates so I am not going to be a hypocrite and pretend that I am not enjoying the Donald's performance.
