Chuck Schumer working the phones on Iran.

He calls colleagues to explain his decision and assure them.

With liberal groups furious over his opposition to the Iran nuclear deal, Sen. Chuck Schumer has been quietly reaching out to dozens of his colleagues to explain his decision and assure them he would not be whipping opposition to the deal, according to Democratic senators and aides.

After news of his decision to vote “no” on the Iran agreement first leaked Thursday night, Schumer (D-N.Y.) has spoken to 20 to 30 fellow Democrats about why he will vote with the GOP leadership against the deal, sources said. Schumer had been planning to make these calls on Friday, before his position on Iran became public, but was not able to do so because it had leaked the night before.

It's one thing for him to vote the way he's going to vote. (Though his decision is highly annoying, his position on Iran is completely expected, completely in line with his voting history and alliances).
But it's another thing for him to proselytize or whatever it is he's doing in those phone calls
I really hope this comes back to bite him, big time.

Okay, then.

There should be serious political consequences in the Party for this shithead.

Leadership should be out, finished. Initiatives can founder in committee.

It will take public statements from Democratic Senators specifically saying that they oppose Schumer for that position in order for those individual Senators to be off the hook - but even so the Party as a whole will still suffer if Schumer becomes its public face in the Senate. The Iran bill is 2015's version of the the Iraq War Resolution, except more so because we have now been down that war road once and we will not suffer silently not giving peace a chance.
