Idiotic post on out local TV station's page presents her argument as having merit.
Comments are a frightening window into the stupidity of red state Amurica:
"The Confederate Flag is part of our HISTORY i know they should still be teaching history in school. Let the kids wear their shirts."
---
"This flag should be removed immediately! Students are not allowed to pray openly but this flag can be displayed proudly on the walls of a school!?! A flag based on an individual's sexual preference placed in the hallway of a school... seriously!?! It has no business being there. Girls cannot wear leggings because they're too risque but a flag based SOLELY on sexuality is acceptable? I am in shock at the hypocrisy!"
---
"When our school goes as far as MAKING a student take off their shirt to turn it inside out, we have a problem. Not only did this said student have to turn his shirt inside out but one of the school staff wouldn't let him get on the morning Votech bus until he did take it off .. Infront of everyone ?! .. The Confederate Flag is not banded from America .. It's in our school books and on the walls of our Social Studies rooms. The Confederate Flag does not mean racism in any way that I've ever seen."
---
"Yes if they have a gay pride poster hanging in the hallway then your son should be able to wear his shirt. Nothing is wrong with his shirt but something is wrong with allowing gays, transgendered and lesbians having more rights than our high school kids"

This is what we're up against, people.

(19,460 posts)1. Let's see now.
A multicolored flag with a peace sign and the word peace written across it vs a flag symbolizing the protection of slavery. Sounds like mama needs a history lesson as well as a bit of schooling in what is and is not hypocrisy.

Same thing for the yahoos who want to wear an old defeated, losers symbol of hate. They don't like it, well tough shit. They are free to leave at any time. Ain't no one stopping them. To bad not a single one of them will do it.
Just saying....
