Because I can't believe how insufferably hot and still it's been here for a week.

(36,063 posts)No rain in sight, so openning All The WINDOWS!!!!
I love to have the old plastered the walls go cold overnite, so that closing windows in the morning keeps the house cool all day.

Our monsoons fizzled again, though.

(3,447 posts)High of 80. We've only had...maybe 10 days above 85 or so? Not very many. And even those weren't until the very end of July. Swimming this year? Haven't even been able to go one time! Granted, weekends are when I have to aim and its been cold weather and/or rain and/or cold nights that prevented it, but STILL!

(6,261 posts)Temperature in the lower eighties, which is much better than the record-breaking series of 90+ degree weather we've had this summer.
The air is very hazy though, almost smoky. I'm guessing it's the forest fires...
We desperately need some rain.

(90,801 posts)Nightfall came and it seemed to get hotter.
The ground is cracked and has been for days. I put a small pool out for the birds. The bird bath just wasn't doing it for them.

(86,944 posts)had a hard frost last night (+25F)!! And has been frosting the last five nights... we had snow in mid-late July that stuck around for a couple days up at 8,000ft.
Been rather cool compared to the last 15+ years - for August that is.
And then there's the smoke, at times visibility is down to <1 mile.

(91,013 posts)We've never needed AC, not really in the 30+ years we've lived in this house. Maybe a week would be in the high 80s or 90s. But the last couple of summers have been debilitating. When we replace the heater, we're going to add AC.
I hope Honolulu cools off by October. I'm still hoping to drag my husband out there for my HS Reunion!

(3,208 posts)We haven't even needed the AC, for heat or humidity, in several days. That is pretty rare for this neck of the woods this time of the year. I am enjoying it very much.
But also thinking of the people all over the world with the heat waves and fires this year!!!

(8,028 posts)...which is mild for August in Utah.
