"frankly I wish the next president was a conservative only because we had Obama for eight years and we need balance. And not because I particularly enjoy the conservative agenda. I just think the government should reflect the people. And we are about 40 percent conservative and 40 percent liberal. When I was growing up and when I was a younger man, liberals and conservatives were friends with differences. They werent enemies. And it always made sense that everyone gets a president they like for a while and then hates the president for a while. But it only works if the conservatives put up a good candidate."
I wonder how many other voters think this?

(32,886 posts)Particularly when a Democrat has done a good job with the economy and other things, people start thinking that those things are going to continue no matter who is in the White House.

(9,174 posts)By that I mean ability to be FDR based on the lack of a "great depression" and Congress. If Obama tried stacking the SCOTUS like FDR did, he'd have been impeached for sure.
Why have we not raised the minimum wage since 2009? Obama has done so in every way he has the power to do so.
Please don't blame Obama for the hardline defense of the GOP.

(23,671 posts)I think its time we actually have a liberal.
The Clintons and Obama are moderate conservatives, so we've had enough conservatives to last us a long time.

I think it was about 2005 when he did that stand-up? That was before he made big bucks. So he had a change in perspective, I guess.

(100,129 posts)I think that we need to treat the Republicans the way they destroyed us in 80's and 90s. Refuse to acknowledge their very existence. Their policies have destroyed the country. Look at what they did to Flint, you want those morons handling the rest of the country? Much less picking possibly 3 SCOTUS justices? I sure as hell don't!

(14,177 posts)Republicans aren't just people with different opinions now. They followed the Tea Party off into fringe RW land and they have no idea how to get back out of there without losing a chunk of people that will vote for them. Then on the other hand pandering to them means they sound like complete lunatics that no one else will vote for.
