Teri McCall of Cambria, California, lost her husband of 40 years, Anthony Jack McCall, to terminal cancer in December 2015. For nearly 30 years on his 20-acre fruit and vegetable farm, Jack had used Monsantos herbicide, Roundup.
Now, Teri has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Monsanto Co., alleging that Monsanto had known for years that exposure to glyphosatethe main ingredient in the agribusiness giants flagship weedkiller Roundupcould cause cancer and other serious illnesses or injuries.
And she just might win.
A growing body of evidence is accumulating, which indicates that Jacks death might, indeed, be linked to his exposure to glyphosate.

(4,667 posts)can agree - the lowest common denominator.
And force countries to ditch public health care systems if even a single penny changes hands around health care. So, no evidence-No problem.
Endocrine disruptors are bio-persistant. So they build up in the environment and in bodies.
They are causing more and more illness in people.
They want to get out from under what could be a huge liability problem that could bankrupt the chemical industry. So the FATs (reverse last two letters) make any changes the nations responsibilities to pay for if a foreign company is involved. So companies can move to some smaller country and sue all the larger ones in special ISSD (same here) courts.

(755 posts)Folks on the other side of the Big Pond really didn't like it when this toxic glorp started showing up in beer, wine, tampons -- and almost every person tested for residue...But the corporate fix is still in (and so are the toxins) in the US of A.
"The EU Parliament has responded to the health concerns of millions by calling on the Commission to severely restrict permitted uses of the toxic herbicide glyphosate, including an effective ban on pre-harvest dessication of crops..."

(11,945 posts)A Monsanto Co. lobbyist, who is seen as Hillary Clinton's "main man" in Iowa, was among the top financial bundlers of contributions to benefit Hillary Clinton's run for the White House in the most recent quarter, new Federal Election Commission reports show.
The total of all bundlers for Clinton campaign over the quarter was $716,981, according to the FEC documents.
Clinton is widely seen as a friend to genetically engineered crop technology and agrichemical interests, while her chief competitor for the Democratic nomination, Bernie Sanders, has been a supporter of mandatory GMO labeling.
