What's with Trump's marriage?

Is it just a marriage of convenience?

I saw something about an interview a view years ago where Melania was asked if she married Trump for his money and her reply was that he wouldn't have married her if she didn't look the way she does.

And now she has pretty much disappeared and the kids have taken over.

Weird.

she cooperates in that idea that men are buying the best looking woman they can get. Gives them an example when they mansplain to us that we are looking for them to be successful so they should get to judge us just on looks.

It sounds defensive on her part too, like of course she married him for money, doesn't want to admit that, so talks about her side of the bargain.

And plastic surgery makes her look worse - IMO they look old in a weird way rather than a natural way. But it's sort of cooperating too, admitting hey I am getting older and he's entitled to the most of what he bought.

Melania's not moving to the White House. There's your answer. And it probably isn't her idea not to do that.

Trump's ready for the next new model. Melania gets whatever payout is in the prenup. Early in 2017, I imagine. Watch for a "tremendous" White House wedding for Trump and his next model wife.

Just, eww. They made their deal: she gets to live in luxury and he gets an attractive, much younger trophy wife. He probably gets sex (if he can even do it, being old and obviously unhealthy) from call girls so she doesn't have to put up with that nastiness any more. He'll probably trade her in on a younger one before long - she's well into her 40s, after all - so she's probably just biding her time until she can collect her alimony, take her kid and get away.

Nixon had a distant relationship with his wife, Pat, who had her own problems with alcohol – not that he noticed because they traveled in separate compartments on the plane, slept in separate bedrooms and were rarely together.

When they were, it was strictly for show and without conversation. Pat drank more and more martinis herself once they exited the White House and ‘was in a pretty good stupor much of the time. She had trouble remembering things’.

That included even where her own house was. Agents heard a rustling in the bushes at the San Clemente, CA house one day and suspected it was illegal immigrants coming up on the beach to cross over into the United States. But it was Pat in the bushes on her hands and knees trying to find the house’.

They've been married for awhile, and maybe he was tolerable back then and she wanted money and a place to live in the United States. Then she had Barron, who some suspect might have autism. People who have autistic kids or work with them noticed similar signs in the acceptance video on election night. The reason for Melania's first lady platform to combat bullying, maybe? I would imagine even a wealthy rich kid with autism can be bullied by other entitled rich kids at rich private schools. Then, even though it's only talk at this point, Tom Arnold saying he saw outtakes of the Apprentice where Donald Trump called his son "retarded".

Despite who Melania is or why she came to be Mrs. Trump, there is a fierceness in a mother's love for her child. He mocks people who aren't "normal" or beautiful or how he expects them to be. Maybe she sees what we see and much more up close and personal and doesn't like it.

And, who could blame her? When I heard the excuse that she was staying in NYC, because didn't want to make her kid change schools in the middle of the year, I figured it was more that she just didn't want the the job. I figured she was just using the kid as an excuse. But, with Tom Arnold's accusations coming out, one has to wonder if there is something to the talk about autism. Autistic kids don't always handle change very well. If this is the case, I'm sure she doesn't subject her child to that massive a change. But, I have little doubt his father would want to avoid having him that close to the spotlight, out of fear that the world would discover that he fathered a "defective" (in his eyes) child. Just look at how he and his handlers reacted when Rosie O'Donnell made her statement suggesting that his kid has this condition.

Fri Dec 23, 2016, 09:58 AM
Dec 2016

Well, more than a couple, but these two really stick out.

Early in Trump's campaign during the primaries, they were on stage after he won some contests apparently to her surprise and she realized she might be forced to deal with this in a long haul. Instead of joy at his win, she had a resigned, distant look of resignation and disappointment, but then she realized the cameras were still rolling and she perked up and put on a smile. But there was no mistaking that she had made some unpleasant mental notes about where she fit in with all of this and she internalized it in a very disappointed way.

Again during the primaries after a win, Trump's kids joined him onstage, and Melania quickly faded herself into the background when Ivanka came into view more. She instinctively turned away from Ivanka and faded into the background. That told a huge story about their marriage. She obviously knew that Ivanka was boss and she knew to surrender her position to her, or else.

It will be interesting to see what becomes of their marriage.

I have been reading Game Change, the book about the 2008 election. One section in the book discussed John McCain's marriage. The description of the marriage made it seem like, for the most part, John and Cindy McCain were two people who did not like being together, but just stayed married and, maybe, lived separate lives. On a number of occasions when they were together, they fought and cursed each other out. After reading about the McCain marriage I began to wonder if the Trump marriage was similar to the McCain marriage.

66. You just have to look at Trump's history for the answer
Fri Dec 23, 2016, 01:14 PM
Dec 2016

Trump has had 3 wives. He cheated on the first with the second, and I believe the second with the third. Prior to being married, he was a sexually promiscuous man who bragged about his conquests.

The answer is that Trump does not value women as people but as objects that he can use for his own pleasure and status. Even his children are only a value for him as long as they follow his path and are loyal only to him. He has said as much in interviews saying something to the effect that he didn't really take interest until they began to be able to discuss business and show an interest in what he did.

Trump appears to be a man with a huge void in his personality that he is trying to fill with money, women, power, etc... He is not a happy person and will not be because he ultimately doesn't even value himself.
