Military Convoy Flying Trump Flag Belonged to SEAL Unit

The military convoy spotted on Sunday flying a Donald Trump flag near Louisville belonged to an East Coast-based SEAL unit, a Navy spokesperson told ABC News.

Military officials have launched an inquiry to determine if any misconduct can be linked to the incident. Regulations do not permit an unauthorized flag on a military vehicle.

Photos and a video of the convoy spread quickly on social media, with many questioning the identity of the occupants and whether the vehicles belonged to a military unit or were military surplus.

That Trump chose this venue shows both his ignorance of the military (at end of fiscal year 2015, 109,321 troops had earned expedited citizenship since 9/11 through military service; more than 20 percent of Medal of Honor recipients have been immigrants) and his intent to corrupt the military in service of his political agenda. Just as Trump dishonored the CIA and its Memorial Wall by attacking the press there last week, so too did he defile the Hall of Heroes and the military with his political event on immigration.

36. Note that the 'This Venue" mentioned above is the 'Hall of Heroes'

that showcases the Medal of Honor, the absolute highest military medal that the country can award. A holder of that medal rates a salute from any military person or any rank.

And note that 20% of the recipients of this medal since 9/11 have been immigrants!

40. I have been known to protest against military policy - Vietnam. Shock and Awe, etc.

However, I have never had anything but the greatest respect for our men and women in uniform. Anyone who puts on that uniform in order to go where their orders send them to 'protect and defend', regardless of their country or origin, is a hero in my book.

Obviously, not every military operation is successful. But there is an extraordinary passage in this article just out from Reuters. What Reuters identifies as "U.S. military officials" says that " Trump approved his first covert counterterrorism operation without sufficient intelligence, ground support or adequate backup preparations."
