The following comments are from Congressman Jeb Hensling's FB page. Texas District 5, a deeply red neck, Southern Baptist, rural Republican district. Hensarling is a T-party darling and Chairman of the Finance Committee. Comments in reply to Hensarling's statement about Trump's glorious prayer breakfast
Hensarling: The National Prayer Breakfast is a great American tradition started by President Eisenhower 64 years ago. It was an honor to be there today as we prayed collectively for our nation and our leaders.
Comments: I'm sure Eisenhower is turning in his grave knowing it started out with prayer for a reality tv shows ratings!! Please tell the president to step out of the Entertainment world!
He prayed for ratings, while ordering our soldiers into an ambush, and got kids killed after giving a shaky order to shoot.
I hope you were as ashamed of the president as I was. He needs to let his cabinet speak for the policy rather than him. He always adds extranious stuff that is inflammitory. He is divisive and I know you as my elected representitive cringes when he speaks.
Embarassing; the sooner you can distance yourself from Trump the better. His faux GOP "supporters" are appearing unprincipled.
I cannot wait until I have to opportunity to vote against you. You support a bigot and prop him up. Have a spine and stand up to Trump.
So I guess churches will start paying taxes as soon as he "destroys" the Johnson amendment?
Glad you were able to pray for Arnold's ratings.
Wow. Have some respect for prayer, please. This man likely just got a Navy SEAL killed due to his incompetence, but opens the prayer service talking about reality TV ratings? You're going to regret your blind loyalty at some point. Please exhibit a little moral character.
Unfortunately, this year's event was a shameless performance by Trump to preen and pose as a Christian. Taking shots at Arnold Schwartzenegger, bragging about his TV popularity. What exactly does that have to do with Christian charity and compassion? Not a word about feeding the poor, or healing the sick, practicing peace, or loving thy neighbor. Hensarling is a hypocrite. He doesn't work for Texans. He works for Wall St.
