(24,345 posts)She's been so busy though, being deceased and all, that she hardly has time to thank her public
on edit: I'm surprised she had time to sit down for this photo. It doesn't look like a selfie, so she had to have one of her friends take it. Maybe George Washington Carver took it

(6,241 posts)We need criminals like her that will stand up against something that is legal, but horrible.
What a brave and inspiring person.

(41,184 posts)When relatively young, Harriet Tubman of eastern Maryland managed to escape abysmal life as a slave and lead relatives and other enslaved people to freedom in the North via the Underground Railroad. With determination, bravery and skill Tubman also worked to help freed slaves in Union-occupied coastal Georgia and South Carolina during the Civil War and served there as a scout and spy for the Union army, and more. What a beautiful, regal portrait!

(26,877 posts)Not just how her stoic, piercing gaze gives you every hint of strength, but the CONDITION of the photograph itself!!
She's buried a few yards from our family plot in Auburn. When my time comes, I'll rest eternally alongside her.

It's so nice to see her when she was younger and no doubt quite vigorous.
