The Wind is Sown

I had wanted to end my work evening on the post I published just after 8 PM. Let me conclude on this note. Tonight's revelations (by which I mean those which preceded Michael Flynn's resignation) make it even more clear that there is much more going on out of view than we realize.
As the Russia story submerged out of view in the first days of February, the Acting Attorney General had already warned the White House about Michael Flynn's deceptions and susceptibility to blackmail. She was fired for refusing to enforce the immigration executive order days later. Though the White House now denies it, it seems that the President and his top advisors took no action in response to these warnings.
We can now also see the outlines of another part of the story. It appears that repeated efforts were made to apprise President Trump or those around him of the situation with Michael Flynn. When those warnings were ignored, people in the national security and law enforcement apparatus went instead to the press to get the word out that way. Only now can we see some of the hidden actions which reveal the pattern and provide context to the leaks.
This is not some ill-considered discussion by Michael Flynn. The role of Russia in the 2016 election and the President's relationship to Russia has been the un-ignorable question hanging over President Trump for months. Flynn's resignation does not come close to resolving it. It is highly likely that the Flynn/Russia channel was authorized by the President himself. There's much more to come.

Flynn did not lie to Pence either. Pence went along with the cover-up until it was no longer tenable.

I've had a hard time listening to my own advice because there was always a nagging feeling at the back of my mind that nothing could ever really happen because the Rethugs have full power. I don't know how long this feeling will hold, but tonight, I actually feel pretty confident things WILL unravel, and justice WILL be served in time.

(2,404 posts)... Russia did not retaliate as a result of Obama's sanctions. They were strangely quiet and did nothing. The fact that they did not retaliate was a red flag to the press... And they started digging.
The idea that Flynn did not inform Trump... Or that Trump didn't know does not pass the smell test.

I suspect they're naively assuming that with Flynn resigning, that's the end of it. And they couldn't be more wrong. All evening I've been watching the talking heads and former intel officers kicking this around on camera, and they all agree on several things - that this only provokes more questions - and some of them even more inconvenient and uncomfortable.
SEVERAL times tonight already I've heard it uttered in one way or other - trump HAD to know. How there's no way he couldn't have known. Because of who he is, how he operates, how big his ego is, how that ego makes him plunk himself right down in the middle of things and at the top of things (I guess, kinda like the sun with all the planets and asteroid belt and everything else revolves around it).
During the conversation Brian Williams had with Malcolm Nance and Naveed Jamali, a key question to ask Michael Flynn would have to be "why are you falling on your sword? And for whom?"
There's excruciating speculation as these folks try to connect the dots, and are starting to realize what the picture is that those connected dots reveal. There are questions about whether THIS is why Sally Yates got fired, because she went to the White House Counsel to alert that office "that Flynn was talking to the Russians and may be compromised."
There's just a boatload - no - make that a whole armada of boatloads of questions that this provokes and spawns.
They're starting to connect the dots. I'm utterly flabbergasted.

McGahn, founder of K Street, the guy the Repukes put in charge of fucking up the FEC, Abramoff, the lease on the Old Post Office...somebody needs to sit down and connect the dots.
