It's not a pep rally - it's likely a full blown Trump2020 campaign event. CincyDem Feb 2017 #1

Remember, he announced his 2020 campaign the afternoon of inauguration and I think he's already raising money. It's an interesting twist that creates a fake chinese wall between trump the president and trump the candidate. And since he likes campaigning more than presidenting...I suspect we'll be seeing these monthly if not more frequently. Adoration is a narcissist's opiate.

That's why Bannon is sending him off to busy himself with something this trivial while Pence goes to Europe to represent the U S at the summit this weekend and to meet with Angela Merkel. It's pretty much like Trump is being dismissed to sit at the kids' table. He doesn't know or care the significance of this, but will be very happy with the applause from his audience of deplorables.

His delicate ego has been battered and bruised by:

Blocked travel ban
Loss of his security adviser
Withdrawal of cabinet nominee
Leaks of intel
Accusations of collusion with the Russians
Bad calls with foreign leaders
The Canadian PM not being bullied by his WWE style handshake
His surrogates looking bat-shit crazy in the media
His press secretary being made to look like a fool and a clown by a FEMALE comedian

He is like a toddler that acts out and is now going back to seek some praise for being a "good boy".

Protests may be harshing his buzz even there, though.
