For better or worse if Hill was pres today she would be reaching out to the Deplorables instead of trying to inflame divisions and her approval ratings would be in the sixties. Things would be pretty boring but she would have strengthened the ACA , eased the burden as much as possible on law abiding undocumented workers and their families through executive actions, and strengthened our alliances.
Her Cabinet would have been comprised of center left Democrats and not reactionaries.
Her SCOTUS nominee would have been a center left jurist in the mode of Stephen Breyer and not a reactionary.

(27,847 posts)It stresses me out to think about it.
And, she would still have had to fend off the haters that she's been dealing with since the 1990s.

(99,716 posts)She also would try to bind our nation's wounds, no matter how futile that is as a task, instead of pouring salt in them.

(22,165 posts)... but I do agree with all you said; however, I would point out they would meet sander's goals no more positively and would act no differently.

(284 posts)During the primaries when she said, "Regardless of whether they're for me, I'm going to be for them," talking about the Sanders supporters, I believed her, and I believe she believed it of the deplorables as well. I was really excited for the entire country to come together and see that she meant it. Now she'll never get a chance, and we have a Dear Leader who spits in our face tells people on our side of the aisle to fuck off every day instead.
We lost so much. There is a reason people are still desperately trying to find some solution that will allow her to take office after all. I've put users on ignore for smugly telling people to go read their constitution and stop looking for unicorns. We're well aware of the constitutional mechanisms in place. We're just in shock and expressing our heartbreak over losing what could have been the opportunity of our lives.

(22,976 posts)Now that the psychopathology of Trump has fully blossomed, it's pretty obvious that he'd be jetting around the red states, bad-mouthing and dogging Hillary, working up the deplorables into full-rage mode at every stop. And the media that Trump claims to loathe would be giving him wall-to-wall coverage, showcasing his fixation.
But wouldn't that be damn nice?
