I just read a thread on another site where an educated right winger said " Why should the federal government have to pay for other people's feral kids?"
That's right they equate CHILDREN to vermin.
I think we should stop expecting the far right to have any sense of human empathy or decency. That comment is one of the most disgusting things I've ever heard in my life.

(4,411 posts)Why should the federal government continue to subsidise companies that don't want to pay a living wage so that parents need to work so many hours they don't have time to raise their kids?

Rightwingers are stupid with their metaphors and hyperbole.

I think it is more of an emotional intelligence thing. They are living from a place of fear, while we tend to live from a place of community. They are always worried about losing something while most of us tend to want to give back. Their charity tends to be very focused, i.e., the people who they live around or they know, while we tend to think in terms of humanity and a world. They think in terms of tribalism and we think in terms of humanism.
Not that I'm an expert or anything, just saying...

(15,559 posts)but I think you've summed up Republicans of today quite succinctly, especially the part about how they live in fear. I would add fear and paranoia. Every single one that I know is always worrying about something that could happen, from small things to bigger things. One woman I work with is absolutely gobsmacked that I would use a debit card anywhere. Why? "Someone could steal your identity." She also runs out and gets every freakin' shot that a woman over 50 should have. She asked me one time if I had gotten my tetanus shot and when I said no, she said to me, "What are you going to do if you step on a rusty nail?" My response was, "Well, I'm 68 years old and have never stepped on a rusty nail in my life, so I'll just take my chances." If I stopped to worry about all the shit she's afraid of I might as well just dig myself a grave and jump in now.
I would say I feel sorry for these people, but I really don't. I'm just glad I've lived my entire adult life just enjoying the simple pleasures and living each day like it's my last. I am so thankful to both of my parents who taught me that valuable truth.
