Trump's Poll Numbers Highest Ever, Dems Rejoice (leads Jeb 32-11%)

Last edited Tue Aug 11, 2015, 05:13 AM - Edit history (2)

Despite making comments that have been labeled "sexist" by many on the political right and left, the billionaire real estate mogul is enjoying his largest lead yet.

After Trump and Fox News host Megyn Kelly got into a heated exchange during Thursday night's primary debate, it was widely predicted that it was the beginning of the end for his campaign. According to the latest poll released August 10 by The Morning Consult, Trump is now polling with 32 percent support from registered Republicans.

Trump gained seven points when compared to the same poll released last month, as he continues to surprise political expects. Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush landed in second place, but with only 11 percent support, he's over 20 points behind Trump in the 2016 GOP primary. Retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson finished in third place with 9 percent, with Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker and Florida Sen. Marco Rubio rounding out the top five with six percent each. Carly Fiorina is finally showing some signs of traction, moving up to three percent of the vote from one percent last month, after a strong performance during the 5pm Eastern "Happy Hour" debate. While establishment Republicans are worried over a possible Trump candidacy, Democrats are thrilled, believing that the former host of "The Apprentice" would be beatable in a general election.

With five weeks until the next debate, taking place live on CNN on September 16, only time will tell if Trump will stay in the good graces of enough Republican voters. Feuding with Fox News host Megyn Kelly, a favorite of conservative voters, was supposed to be the nail in his political coffin, but Trump appears to be almost bulletproof in regards to his election chances.

I doubt if too many right wingers were upset that Trump took her on. I'm sure they felt she was gunning for Trump and was unfair to him compared to how easy she was on the others.

That said, I'm surprised Trump got that big of a bump.

Trump's supporters follow him because he calls Rosie O'Donnell and other women pigs and dogs and bimbos.

His numbers go up when he does something that would end another candidacy because he's backed by the same nutjobs who flood your inbox with forwarded emails about Benghazi, and Kenyan birth certificates, and gun grabbing conspiracies. Trump's supporters don't back him despite his offensive comments; they support him because of his offensive comments.

Astros -- it is a decision that is not based on a rational analysis and so it is a type of support that cannot be undermined with facts or rational arguments).

Think of your favorite sports team or your favorite flavor of ice cream. Could I offer you a rational argument or could I disclose some fact which would likely cause you to change your preference? Probably not. This is because your preference is based on something other than a rational thought process, and Trump's followers prefer his candidacy in the same manner.

I watched the debate after it aired and everyone was saying trump won. I read the transcript before I watched and he only answered a couple of questions. It was his "stage presence" that made him "win." It was the snark and self-admitted underhandedness (saying he used bankruptcy laws for his advantage, saying he "bribed" politicians).

Once Trump starts rolling in dough from donations it's going to be quite interesting to see how the media can frame it.

Her question with its "war on women" and so forth, did not sound like standard Republican fare. I can understand why many Republicans wouldn't be too responsive to her line of questioning. On the other hand, Trump's response that the problem is "political correctness" resonates a LOT among right wing voters.

Hello People ,I know you are confused ,perhaps somewhat baffled at the rise in the poll numbers.
But before I get to that let me just tell you ,to know me is to love me.
But don't take my word for it ,look at the polls !

Now you may think it was about Megan Kelly and my view of her ungrateful line of questioning on behalf of those traders at fox . And there are certain parties involved in that trap they set thinking there would be no life preserver to grab after having been cast out into their sea of lies. And those certain parties I have been assured, over the phone of course ,those cowardly traders heads will roll.

You have noticed the party favorite took a dive into that sea of lies. And again the polls say so. He has his flotilla of course, he's a Bush.
Here is the question, how did those cowards on fox's panel jockey for the position, did they draw straws ? How did they decide who
would do the dirty deed ? Or who has the best equipment to slip it in, than past the audience? Who would I be far more hesitant to attack back, not stab in the back the way those cowards do.. Who ?

Ain't she cute ?

Did I really have to say it,did I have to say blood dripping down her dagger ?
As I have repeadely stated ,I brought that network great rating and multitudes of great people and I bestowed upon those traders great wealth .And what do they do, they conspire against me and choose one to stab me in back-figuritively of course with literal effect.

Should I have said it? I did say it, and people are not stupid and that is just what those cowards disbelieve.
And so I had a chat over the phone- and we will see if he keeps his word.

There were no surprises at the debate and great fear is now upon the party favorites. That sea of lies is a creation of grand old party cronyism. It is infectious ,insidious ,and insane.
What is happening is what the party brought down upon itself.
And that is what the numbers say.
That is what the people say.

I have the cure for the great republican plague if they want it, if not, well the sea is vast and it/they can just float away !
Truth is there is no phony accounting about the numbers showing, it is in fact what it is ,those numbers are what those numbers are. There is a very great number of people behind those numbers .
And I can assure you there is no slippery sliding numbers at play, That you can bet on .

Folks I just back to work and made good on my word, I don't have time to get mad, and today I got even ,I did the veto thing.
But what Trump said about those numbers, Now I'm confused .

What would Donald Trump actually do as president? An analysis of his policies

So far we’ve heard that he’ll bring back jobs. That he’ll put up walls. That he’ll take down China and make America great and do a super cool spinning karate kick. ... one thing is that he would tax other countries. All of them. But especially Mexico and China, for whom he reserves particular venom.

As MSNBC has reported, Trump has promised to get rid of corporate taxes and replace them with a 20% tax on imports and a 15% tax on companies which outsource. There’s only one problem: that would be illegal. Trump has also said he would have prevented Ford from building new manufacturing plants in Mexico by imposing a 35% tax on vehicles made in the country. But as USA Today pointed out, this would violate the North American Free Trade Agreement. Oh, and only Congress can impose taxes anyway.

Healthcare, and specifically Obamacare, is an easy win for a Republican presidential hopeful. Trump made all the right noises on this when he described the Affordable Care Act as a “big fat horrible lie” and a “total catastrophe” in Iowa in January.

“Oh, would China be in trouble. The poor Chinese.” Specifically, the business mogul has said he will “bring back our jobs” from China. (And Mexico and Japan, but mainly China.) He has said the country has stolen US jobs through currency manipulation – a common claim, if an unproven one; the Chinese yuan has actually strengthened against the dollar in the last decade.

http://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2015/aug/06/what-would-trump-actually-do-as-president

As I remember, Romney was going to label China a currency manipulator on his first day as president. Trump seems to be on the same page.

He would get rid of corporate taxes and lower income taxes on the rich and replace them with tariffs. Again that is going back to an old republican playbook - Coolidge and Hoover in the 1920's - which FDR reversed.

I don't see where he intends to negotiate anything with anybody. As a republican, he is a true believer in unilateral American action to solve all problems.

Elsewhere he has claimed to want to 'rebuild' the military. Harken back to Reagan on that one.

Hello people

Don't let them plant another bush in the white house.

I know this is a place for democratic minded people and even if I cannot convince you to support me at least I can encourage you to stay tuned. And if you do I promise you great entertainment.

Certainly you know something about the great television ratings I brought to those assassins at fox and great money ,you know how much those people love my money all money actually.

But that is not what I want to talk about today, today I want to tell you a story about a fascination I had with snow plows back when Rudy was mayor.
One fine snowy day I was sitting high up in my office at Trump tower . looking down ,way way down I happened to notice piled up dirty snow ,mountains of that dirty stuff ,awful looking dirty mounds of snow created by sloppy snow plow drivers ,city servants that couldn't care less about appearances.

Well I said to myself this is outrageous ,great piles of dirty snow pushed aside and left there, unseemly as hell.
So I called in my assistant than ordered her to get that mayor on the phone and I don't mean tomorrow ,I mean right now.
And that she did, and Rudy was there in a flash. Of course I kept him waiting peering down down down at that filthy unseemly dirty snow piled up ,just disgusting.

I picked up the phone and said ,what the hell kind of servants of the this great city plow the roads ? What the hell is the matter with you ? And Rudy said ,I have no idea what you talking about ,will you clarify ? Well that I did, and he got the message. Rudy sent a caravan of of city snow plow trucks to get the job done right and a regiment city foot workers with shovels to clean those streets the way it should be always.

But those trucks and the way those drivers plowed the filth and disgust away ,snow battering rams ,it was a beautiful sight
Now I don't know what they did with that dirty snow but I can tell as far as I could see those roads were clean enough to eat off of, not that
i would do do that, but clean as can be.

I was impressed and so I called Ruby myself and he answered the phone ,about one third of a ring ! I said Rudy ,those streets look marvelous ,keep up the good works .. And he did let me tell you.
That winter my fascination with snow plows carried on until the end of spring.
The power ,the thrust of those plow trucks ,marvelous just fabulous.

What's the point you wonder ? And whats really going on with this, this my campaign you wonder, am I in to win or out to divide my party of choice . I know it appears to you I have no plan- i'm just free wheeling .

Today I'm here to tell you I do in fact have a plan . I am going to plow the course.
It's a three strike tactical plan . Strike one is plow Bush a favorite and two bottom dwellers out the way Right off my bat.
Now people need I lay it out in detail ?

It all comes down to me !
To know me is to love me.
Donald Trump 2015

By the way, Rudy is a beggar.
