Paul Ryan offers to step down as GOP convention chair if Donald Trump asks

Source: The Guardian

Paul Ryan told reporters on Monday that he is willing to step down from role as co-chairman of the Republican National Convention in July if Donald Trump asks him to do so.

The comment, made in an interview with the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, was the latest sign that many Republican leaders are willing to walk away from their party’s presumptive nominee and distance themselves from the controversy and chaos of his campaign. Many believe Trump will lose badly in a general election, and that he could take senators and representatives down with him.

Ryan declined to endorse Trump last week, telling CNN: “I’m just not ready to do that at this point. I’m not there right now.”

Trump at first responded with statement: “I am not ready to support Speaker Ryan’s agenda.”

7. Well, unless Trump crashes and burns. Then he can say he saw it coming and wanted no part of it.

Then he shows himself to be weak and out of the loop by not being part of the downfall.

He comes out a weakling either way.

He did not want to be speaker of the House. There is not future of becoming President by be leader of the House with less than 1% approval rating.

Hell, we have to sweat out the FBI and State and hackers and the Clinton Bubble Third Way Dems. Just wish La Abuela would go home to be with family. Then she'll truly only need one hand held device.

This is so he can paint himself a martyr if the convention appoints him to run?

bend over for Trump is a good career move, a good convention move,
a good party move, or anything but kow-towing

This was Romney's running mate

Now a Speaker without spine

The best he can walk away with is titular head of the convention

and even then he'll be under scrutiny

He has this innate ability to be terrible at every job he's given, while at the same time expressing total reluctance at doing it in the first place.
