I wonder if the hack on DU was Russian?
BTW how long before Trump goes "Twitter Crazy" about this?
Red State Prisoner
(139 posts)but I believe there's a connection. There was something sinister about the timing and message of the hack. They knew what was coming down. Right around the time we began hearing strange news regarding some of the "firewall" states, it all came crashing down. It was an ominous first shot of what would ultimately prove to be a long night of jarring events.

(58,785 posts)is domestic. H was laughed at when she first reported it long ago, the "vast right wing conspiracy." People had no idea about the forces massed in secret to conduct psychological warfare against the American electorate, to conquer by turning their enemy on themselves.
People so powerful they could get the AP to blanket the nation with blatant lies, could get Comey to abandon his image of great integrity to betray the nation right out in the open. It's all finally become a monster too big to hide.
It would be very worth knowing if they conspired with the Russians, or just accepted the Russian entry into battle on their side.

Cracklin Charlie
(12,904 posts)In Shitler's case...blackmail could take many forms.
If they successfully hacked with the candidate's okay, and if they have any good stuff on the RNC, the hackers will be able to get anything they want for at least the next four years. From Congress, from the President, law enforcement. Anything.
The very idea that Trump was an accomplice to a stolen election would make him susceptible to extreme pressure from blackmailers every single minute of his presidency. If RNC folks knew that the election would be stolen, and discussed it in hacked documents, all of those folks may be guilty of very serious crimes. This would leave all of them at risk of blackmail at any time. The hackers are already deciding which of the spoils they will claim. His presidency is compromised from Day One.
This must not be allowed to happen.

(475 posts)The Kremlin isn't even trying to hide this.
I remember how they issued statements on December 12th (I think) saying that they already had a call with Trump, and then another a couple days later saying that they talked with his team during the election.
This was pretty much a power play.
a). The Trump team only mentioned this AFTER Putin gave the go-ahead by making it public (as if saying "haha I won"
b). The subtext here is an underlying (almost mocking) narrative that Putin and Trump(/his team) had an constant flow of communication and coordinated campaign strategy and propaganda/hacks.

(475 posts)In response to imminent leaks from the FBI's Trumplandia bureau. We need to smoke out the underlying factions that lead to it, Comey is naught but a scapegoat (a cowardly and selfish one but still).
It's the same with that pizzagate guy. Dude was apparently pretty normal before being railed by fake news propaganda. The people perpetuating that story need to be held to a higher degree of accountability than he does. Like if you stage a scene where somebody is robbing someone at gunpoint, and a bystander comes in an assaults the gunman (without knowing it's fake) to protect the non-existent victim, then whoever staged that scene should be held accountable.
If he actually freed a bunch of child sex slaves I think we would all be pretty impressed.

(9 posts)I already assumed that they reported this for the President every day. I suspect that what they are doing in the next month is redacting everything that is not political. Because Russia, China, and every other country friend or foe, are certainly already elbows deep in industrial espionage, insider trading, virus proliferation, drugs, etc.

(70,445 posts)Obama Orders Intelligence Report on Russian Election Hacking
http://www.nytimes.com/2016/12/09/us/obama-russia-election-hack.html?action=Click&contentCollection=BreakingNews&contentID=64628103&pgtype=article
By DAVID E. SANGERDEC. 9, 2016
Washington President Obama has ordered American intelligence agencies to produce a full report on Russian efforts to influence the 2016 presidential election, his homeland security adviser said on Friday. He also directed them to develop a list of lessons learned from the broad campaign the United States has accused Russia of carrying out to steal emails, publish their contents and probe the vote-counting system.
We may have crossed a new threshold here, Lisa Monaco, one of Mr. Obamas closest aides and the former head of the national security division of the Justice Department, told reporters Friday. He expects to receive this report before he leaves office.
The report, according to senior administration officials, will trace the attacks on the Democratic National Committee and on prominent individuals like John D. Podesta, the chairman of Hillary Clintons presidential campaign.
But it is unclear that the contents of the report will be made public. Intelligence agencies and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, which still has an active investigation of the hacking underway, have been reluctant to make public any of their findings; they fear it will reveal sources and methods of how the incursions were traced back to Russia. After past investigations involving sensitive intelligence information, declassified versions of reports were sometimes published, with a classified version sent to congressional committees and some agencies.
President-elect Donald J. Trump has consistently questioned whether hacking happened, and if it did whether Russia was responsible. He has suggested that the effort to blame Russia was, in fact, an effort to discredit him and his call for closer relations with Moscow.
Mr. Trump repeated those doubts in a Time magazine interview published this week. I dont believe it, he said. I dont believe they interfered. He suggested that American intelligence reports attributing the attacks to Russia were driven by politics, not facts.....................
