A Minnesota woman recently sued a biomedical company with a large presence in the Houston area, claiming she was fired shortly after she complained about a company business meeting held at a Hooters restaurant, known for its service by young women dressed short shorts and tank tops.
Marci Hocevar, 53, said she worked for Molecular Health, a German company with offices in The Woodlands, for about six weeks when the company hired a new senior vice president of sales, according to the suit recently filed in state district court in Montgomery County. The new executive told Hocevar, who called on clients in the Minneapolis area, that he would be coming for a visit in January 2016 to see if she was right for the job, the lawsuit said.
The executive allegedly insisted they meet at Hooters at the Mall of the Americas because he "enjoyed being served by attractive females," Hocevar alleged in court documents.
"She goes because she feels she has no choice," said Houston lawyer Scott Newar, who is representing Hocevar. Hocevar was earning a six-figure salary, said Newar.

(4,976 posts)Because we should all have the freedom to have business meetings wherever we want. Someone should ask the new VP if looks are his main hiring standards. Hey, they could hold court at a strip club! Who the hell hired that dolt?

(51,076 posts)how many of these pasty white bastards would frequent a Hooters/heat and eat, that had a wait staff that was at least half young guys with muscular builds wearing similar attire as the young women are required too?

(160,649 posts)It's shabby, unprofessional, 2nd rate.
Too bad these clowns aren't evolved enough to know how stupid it makes them appear to grown men and women to drag their business events off to carnival side-shows, instead of attaching real significance and respect to their negotiations.
You hit it exactly on target.
Buffoons, low rent clown apprentices. What a shame when idiots are given power over other people.

(8,747 posts)The food was not very good, and the women didn't look like they were happy. Can't blame them a bit. Always thought the chain was pretty shabby with the whole concept. Never went again.
