Intel Chiefs Won't Say If They'll Resign Over Trump's Betrayal

Source: The Daily Beast

The president all-but-said he trusts Vladimir Putin more than own intelligence agencies. Will the heads of those agencies quit as a result?

The heads of U.S. intelligence are ducking comment after President Trump indicated that he’s more inclined to believe Vladimir Putin’s denials of election interference than their agencies’ joint assessments.

“My people came to me, [Director of National Intelligence] Dan Coats came to me and some others, they said they think it’s Russia. I have President Putin, he just said it’s not Russia. I will say this: I don’t see any reason why it would be,” Trump said beside a confident, brazen Russian leader in Helsinki on Monday.

In January 2017, the National Security Agency, Central Intelligence Agency, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation jointly assessed that the Kremlin launched a concerted and multifaceted effort to sway the 2016 presidential election. Many of the assessment’s particulars concern surreptitious social-media manipulation and Russian intelligence digitally stealing thousands of emails and other material from servers associated with the Democratic party. In two indictments, most recently on Friday, special prosecutor Robert Mueller brought specific, detailed charges against 25 Russian nationals he alleges were involved in those efforts.

Asked if newly installed NSA Director Paul Nakasone would resign given Trump’s belief that Putin is a more reliable source of information than U.S. intelligence, a spokesperson for the NSA, Christopher Augustine, deferred comment to the Office of National Intelligence and the White House.

I've said this in other threads, and I'll keep saying it. It's long-time common law that silence implies consent.

It would be an exercise in self delusion not to have full knowledge of the character of this degenerate. They are, in my estimation just immoral as the person they chose to support. I grew up on the South Side and you either chose to join or walk away. They chose to join. A lot of these people compromised their morals long ago. It isn't like they are babes in the woods. How many people did they step on to get to the top? Show me a lot of successful people and I show you a wake of rubble they left behind.

I am so sick of these sanctimonious idiots that think they are being so noble by resigning, when all they are doing is slinking away from an uncomfortable position. Suck it up.

There are times when a dramatic widely watched defection has an impact. And that that symbolism has a greater affect than the loss of that person to their job would have. That is rare and this is not that time.

Now if say McCain said he had had enough of Trump and the Republican pandering to him, and publicly left the party, that may have some impact. Or other Republican reps quitting and walking across the aisle. Much different than an easily replaceable (for Trump) intelligence officer.

Old time probably Republican Cold Warrior, he's been spot on, so his tweet today is a matter for encouragement:

Thanks to the IC.

I repeat: Mueller. Knows. Everything.

How many times do @TheRickWilson & I gotta tell y'all this?

And btw … He's coming.

Post count was in the low thousands, so maybe that was a factor, or they didn't look, but took it at face value.

It was just a suggestion.

is that it may be near impossible now for them to get rid of rosenstein/mueller. It’s likely too late anyway.
