Trump rages at Black congressman for calling out his failures at House coronavirus hearing

............................................
After Clyburn displayed a chart showing that cases in the United States had surged even as cases in European countries were under control, the president took to Twitter to attack the congressman, who serves as the Chairman of the Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Crisis.
Somebody please tell Congressman Clyburn, who doesnt have a clue, that the chart he put up indicating more CASES for the U.S. than Europe, is because we do MUCH MORE testing than any other country in the World, the president wrote. If we had no testing, or bad testing, we would show very few CASES.
..........................................
Our massive testing capability, rather than being praised, is used by the Lamestream Media and their partner, the Do Nothing Radical Left Democrats, as a point of scorn, the president wrote. This testing, and what we have so quickly done, is used as a Fake News weapon. Sad!
Despite the presidents claims, however, the rise of COVID cases in the United States is not solely due to increased testing capacity, as the countrys positivity rate has also risen alongside test totals......................................

(7,540 posts)Smaller countries are able to test their entire populace and we're lagging.
If he was smart, he'd hit the gas on testing *everyone* and then they could talk about percentage by population, but we're nowhere near that yet.

(46,315 posts)Europe wasn't testing as much as the U.S. to explain the difference in the numbers. But I don't believe he would have found evidence to support that claim.

Yet again, Trump pledges that the coronavirus will simply go away (April 28, 2020 Washington Post)
That comment on Feb. 26 was not the first time he had claimed that the virus would simply dissipate.
Feb. 10. Said during a meeting with governors. Cases at the end of that day, according to data from Johns Hopkins University: 12.
Now, the virus that were talking about having to do you know, a lot of people think that goes away in April with the heat as the heat comes in. Typically, that will go away in April.
Note the prediction here: The virus would go away by April.
Feb. 25. Said during a roundtable in New Delhi. Cases: 53.
[China is] getting it more and more under control. So I think thats a problem thats going to go away.
Feb. 26. Trump made the comment referred to by Acosta during a coronavirus news briefing. Cases: 59 (including passengers repatriated from a cruise ship).
Again, when you have 15 people, and the 15 within a couple of days is going to be down to close to zero, thats a pretty good job weve done.
A key point here is that Trump predicted the virus would go away within a couple of days. So Trumps it will go down to zero, ultimately clearly misrepresents what he said at the time.

(36,574 posts)and ask that the House impeach the Con again. If only to make the Con & the GOP senators squirm, I think this should be done. Make them vote "No" again, but this time during a raging pandemic. Make them go on record. Why aren't the dems doing this? It's like the whole country has resigned itself to waiting until November and hoping for the best. The damage this man does on a daily basis just makes me shake my head and say WTF that nothing is being done. I want to cry and scream at the same time.

(9,897 posts)We soon will have lost 3x the number of American lives lost in Vietnam. That grim marker is on the horizon and likely to be passed in just barely 6 months time....think about that for a second. American combat troops were mainly deployed in Vietnam between 1964 and 1973, advisors and other personnel had been in country as far back as 1954, but say Vietnam lasted 10 years or 120 months...
Vietnam War = 58,220 dead in 120 months or approximately 485 dead per month
COVID-19 = 155,000 dead in 6 months or approximately 25,833 dead per month.
Those are AMERICAN citizens. Condemned to death by an incompetent leader and a political party that enables his lunacy and criminality at every fucking turn.
25,833 DEAD PER MONTH....
Donald J. Trump is approaching territory reserved for the worst human beings in history. THAT is what makes the unspeakable ring in my head. THAT is why I find myself tortured daily and even hourly. THAT is why...
25,833 DEAD AMERICANS PER MONTH
53 times the deaths of the VIETNAM WAR...the most traumatic event of the Baby Boom generation prior to COVID-19.
Where are the general strikes?
Where are the total shut downs of the system?
Why are we - 350,000,000 in total allowing 62,000,000 deluded voters and their 53 Senators to drive the economy off a cliff, enable an incompetent tyrant, and wipe their ample asses with our Bill of Rights, Constitution and Representative Republic???
This must end.
By any means necessary.

Through yesterday:
US
4,635,000 cases;
155,285 deaths
South Korea
14,269 cases;
300 deaths
Yes, the US has 6x the population as South Korea, but South Korea is like 15x more densely populated than the US, so South Korea probably looks even better in comparison.
South Korea met the problem swiftly and smartly with science.
The US had Trump.

Why does Agent Orange continue to allow the coroners to certify the deaths? No death certifications, no deaths, no "TRUMP VIRUS" problem!
What a fucking idiot, it is like being on the losing team and spouting, "You only won because we were keeping score!" seriously
Truth be told I have my own suspicions that some coroners are actually doing what they can to keep "certifications" of COVID deaths lower than actual (looking at you RED STATES) and just because I might be crazy doesn't mean that I am wrong
No words cannot begin to even describe the disgust I have for that sorry excuse for a life form
