Source: Reuters
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi said talks with the White House on a new coronavirus aid bill were not yet on a path toward reaching a deal on Friday, hours before the expiration of a federal unemployment benefit that has been an essential lifeline for millions of Americans.
Asked why she rejected a proposal from Republican President Donald Trumps administration for a one-week extension of the $600 enhanced weekly jobless payment, Pelosi told reporters that such a move would occur if you are on a path toward a deal.
Were not, the Democrat told a news conference.
However, negotiations were to continue on Friday between White House officials and congressional Democrats.

(11,885 posts)Had this bill from the house 2 months and 10 days ago knowing how important it is, but intentionally stalled doing anything , and want to give the American people nothing. trump and Moscow Mitch's poll numbers are going to tank even more for doing this to us. They've created their worse nightmare going into the Nov. election. trumps trying to stiff us like he does to his contractors. Then add to that people are really getting pissed at his hurting the post office, and having them slow down delivery for political reasons .
