Jan. 6 Committee Asks Ivanka Trump to Cooperate in Inquiry

WASHINGTON — The House committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol sent a letter on Thursday to Ivanka Trump, the daughter of former President Donald J. Trump, seeking her cooperation with its inquiry.

The letter to Ms. Trump, who served as one of the president’s senior advisers, comes after Representative Liz Cheney, Republican of Wyoming and the vice chairwoman of the Jan. 6 select committee, said the panel had gathered evidence that Ms. Trump had implored her father to call off the violence as a mob of his supporters stormed the Capitol.

“We know his daughter — we have firsthand testimony — that his daughter Ivanka went in at least twice to ask him to please stop this violence,” Ms. Cheney said in an interview on ABC News this month.

The letter is the latest step that the committee has taken to obtain information from Mr. Trump’s family about the events that led up to the Capitol riot. The panel has also sought logs of phone calls and text messages between the former president’s son Eric Trump and Kimberly Guilfoyle, the girlfriend of another son, Donald Trump Jr., according to CNN.

Why bother with a nice letter/??? Everyone knows she will just laugh. Hit them with a subpoena right away and save weeks of playing patty cake and pussy footing around.........Their crowd is professional at dragging their heels......

22. I think asking nicely is a good idea.

Asking first instead of going straight for the subpoena is a wise strategic move, imo. Every time they ask nicely and get a refusal, the net result is that the refuser and TFG look even worse than they already do. This is in no way a bad thing.

I think the Committees knows exactly what they are doing here, and I approve.

19. Remember that time when Ivanka was our hope to sanity in the WH?

When she was on a hot circuit around the daily talk shows. She was the sibling who would help to influence Donald Trump to be more kind, empathetic, and be the leader for all Americans not just his base. She was his favourite after all. She acted charming and upbeat, and assured everyone that her father just had this old school, 'tell it like it is' gruffness to him. No need to intervene...why would she?

Then she was rewarded with positions far above her pay grade and security clearance. And soon was openly mimicking her deranged father's statements.

I actually thought, at the time in the early days, that she was smart enough, and seemingly nice enough, to go the other way, and distance herself from him then. Work on her own brand Ivanka. And not participating in his administration at all. Perhaps even tweeting once in awhile against Republicans as a whole, if not her father, when they did some of the more reprehensible things like separating families.

I predicted that her brand would rise if that happened. No MAGAts would be buying, but the whole rest if the world would have been her oyster. She'd have garnered a lot of respect for standing up to her father's abuse. She could have been working on the Ivanka Empire totally above board. Now her brand is in the gutter. She chose to instead invest in a criminal lifestyle in partnership with her brothers and father.

No, its obvious now, that her big eyed innocence was all a sham. She's just as greedy, traitorous, and criminally opportunistic as her dear old dad. And her pleading with him to stop the riot? It was simply to protect the Donald Trump brand and her financial future, because she'd by now put all her chips in on that being her brand as well.
