Elon Musk suspends Kanye West from Twitter for inciting violence
Source: BBC
Kanye West has been banned from Twitter again and accused of "inciting violence" over offensive tweets - a month after his account was reinstated.
The US rapper, who now goes by the name Ye, posted a series of erratic tweets - one of which appeared to show a symbol combining a swastika and a Jewish star.
Twitter's new boss Elon Musk was asked by one user to "fix Kanye".
Musk tweeted that West had "violated our rule against incitement to violence".

(259 posts)shows what a hypocrite he is. Elon is not doing this out of any sense of values or right/wrong, it's purely because he is feeling the heat of all his advertisers dumping him. He can't defend Kanye, though I'm sure he would prefer to

(12,516 posts)I'll never understand it. The Jews are probably the ONE group who really don't do anything to anyone. I've never seen Jews insisting on certain laws to be passed because of their beliefs. Or blowing up shopping malls or buses. Or pushing for government to change how they do things to better fit their way of thinking. Or push for special treatment. Etc Etc.

(2,346 posts)I guess Elon hates free speech*.
*Musk accused Apple of hating free speech in a tweet after Apple cut back advertising on Twitter and rumors were floating that Apple was getting ready to kill Twitter in its App Store.

(9,662 posts)he needs to appear to be above doing so and leave that to his "system" or whatever might be left of it.
Incredibly bad optics otherwise. Then again, from the looks of it, he could give a shit. What a mess. Good gawd does he not have any filters?
It's looking more and more as if he is intentionally driving it to the ground

(9,662 posts)who choose, perhaps soon chose, to use it. I'm not sure he can cover his 44b. There's no way he can cover the lost user value if his platform suffers the demise it looks to be headed for.
Does he have a plan through tax write-offs or other mechanisms to recoup his personal lost value? Who knows? I think it would be safe to say that Twitter's user community will be the last to know but the first to suffer if he does succeed in scuttling it.

(48,957 posts)explanation there, but after last night's craziness it really wasn't necessary. The free speech absolutists are angry, though. They want to know exactly how Ye was inciting violence.
And there were enough accusations that Musk had suspended Ye for posting an unflattering photo that Musk felt it necessary to tweet this:

(6,617 posts)I keep reminding people that complain about twitter policies that it's not a public service - hell it's no longer public company. Musk can be the brat that owns the toy store and not share at will and make the rules as to who can play and who can't. He can be the bull in the china shop he owns. So they can bitch away looking for a solution to a problem that doesn't exist. Best way to handle it is to not use the system.
