Putin soiled himself after falling down stairs, report claims
Source: KOMO News
Russian President Vladimir Putin fell down the stairs and soiled himself at his official residence, a report claims.
According to the anti-Kremlin Telegram channel "General SVR," Putin's mishap took place on Wednesday evening.
The report sources the claims to Informants within Putin's security team. "General SVR" also claims to be operated by a former Russian spy.
Putin's alleged fall comes as concerns over his overall health have increased. The Russian leader is battling cancer and Parkinson's disease, according to leaked emails obtained by The Sun.

(2,082 posts)Assume it is true that he fell down the stairs. Why would the Russian government let the world know that? It could make Ukraine think Russia is vulnerable and could urge them to attack. It makes Russian look weak. And why add the detail that he Trumped his pants and remind the world of his colon cancer? Thats humiliating and makes Poo Tin look even weaker.
Or
This is a fake story to try and discredit Poo Tin
Which is more believable? While it is possible that there was an attempt on Poo Tins life, I doubt news of the attempt would look like this.
If I had to vote on this, I would vote that its a false story

My dad, who is 96 and now in hospice care but still has his wits about him, recently watched that movie with my sister and latched onto that line. He has been entertaining caregivers and visitors with it ever since.
The rumor about Putin reminded me.

(613 posts)No reliable news source is carrying this story. It is a tabloid story that remains unverified and unproven.
I do not think the poster of this sort of article is doing DU and the Democratic Party any favors by posting this story.
In fact, I think it calls into question the integrity of DU, and makes it look bad.
I am no Putin fan, and believe it would be better for the world if he is gone, but I'm also very concerned about how the reputation of Democratic Party beacons like DU will be impacted when they run unproven allegations like this.

(7,873 posts)Why is it when KOMO falls for it and repeats it does that make it reliable? It is still propaganda which only Murdoch was willing to spread. The BBC, the Guardian, Washington Post all passed on it as have other reliable sources of record.
KOMO may be local network tv in Seattle but the story they posted is based on SVR and the SUN(UK/Murdoch) sources which have both reported exaggerated Putin health rumors previously, which curiously no reliable press have repeated. The story actually is from TND a very dubious Sinclair Broadcasting agency.
How does this not meet our requirement for NOT repeating RW and bogus sources on DU?

(7,873 posts)Newsweek had it up as a doubtful rumor source.
BBC hasn't got it. Guardian hasn't. WAPO and NYT neither.
It has been spread far and wide across the Murdoch empire which is not a good indication.
Where on CBS News did you see it referenced? When I go to https://www.cbsnews.com/#search-form: they don't have it as a searchable item. Maybe you have another site I missed?
