Kari Lake appeals judge's dismissal of Arizona election challenge
Source: The Hill
Arizona gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake (R) is appealing a Maricopa County judges decision to dismiss her lawsuit challenging her midterm defeat.
Lake filed a notice of appeal Tuesday in Arizona Superior Court to contest the dismissal of two counts that went to court for a two-day trial as well as other counts that never made it to trial.
The short trial found that she didnt have enough evidence to back up her claims that local election officials committed intentional misconduct that impacted the race between Lake and Gov.-elect Katie Hobbs (D), which Lake lost by some 17,000 votes.
My Election Case provided the world with evidence that proves our elections are run outside of the law. This Judge did not rule in our favor. However, for the sake of restoring faith and honesty in our elections, I will appeal his ruling, Lake said just before Christmas.

(27,661 posts)Right now all she has to pay is $33K for expert witnesses hired by Katie Hobbs. She might find herself liable for much more if this appeal doesn't go her way.
The judge in Kari Lake's election challenge on Tuesday rejected requests for sanctions and nearly $700,000 in attorney fees but granted $33,000 to pay for expert witnesses hired by Katie Hobbs.
In his ruling, Maricopa County Superior Court Judge Peter Thompson wrote that although Lake didn't provide the "clear and convincing evidence" needed to prevail in her case, that was not the same thing as saying her lawsuit over the results of the Arizona governor's race was "groundless and presented in bad faith."
His decision comes a day after attorneys on both sides of the lawsuit made their arguments on whether a request for nearly $700,000 in attorney fees and other expenses sought by Hobbs and Maricopa County officials had merit.

You can't have a trial without evidence.

(1,645 posts)she is using classic Frump technique here. The sanctions costs will be far less than her find raising capability on this matter.
So "Stupid" isn't so stupid. With the fundraising, she will live to fight another day. Fortunately, or rather hopefully, her fighting will be reserved to one state only.
Sadly, it's that state where my family now resides... They moved from Michigan to Arizona - go figure...

(9,675 posts)We're all in agreement that she should pay for these frivolous lawsuits, but she merely needs to request a group fund or some help from Mother Russia and these bills are easily covered.
We most certainly need to buttress our state and federal laws regarding the abuse of the judicial system in matters of election integrity. Unfortunately, the cat is out of the bag and there are too many fascists entrenched in government to permit any real improvements.
